Olfactif April 2015 Subscription Box Review - "British Invasion"
Olfactif April 2015 Subscription Box – “British Invasion”

Olfactif is a monthly perfume subscription box. Each month subscribers receive some of the finest and hardest-to-find perfume samples from niche artists around the world. Samples are contained in 2.25mL glass vials and each vial has enough for 15 – 20 wearings. In addition, you will receive an $18 credit to put toward a full bottle of a featured scent, every month.

The Box

Olfactif ships via USPS around the 1st of the month.  If your first purchase is before the 15th of the month they will ship out your collection immediately.  Otherwise your first box will ship around the 1st of the following month.

First Look
The Olfactif Box

Every Olfactif box comes packaged in a sleek black case and includes details on how to smell each of your scents.  I totally agree with the card that you can’t make a decision on a scent right away.  You need to wait at least an hour or so to really decide.

The Information Card

The April Olfactif theme was “British Invasion” and included the following scents:

~Centerpiece 4160 Tuesdays: This scent is described as a “lush floral oriental built around honey and frangipani” and has notes of honey, green tea, vanilla, frangipani, cederwood and musk.  I found it to be almost spicy, but it’s a gorgeous scent.

Centerpiece 4160 Tuesdays

~Jardin Mystique Friedemodin: This scent is described as “sparkling green floral showcasing lily of the valley” and has notes of cassis buds, bergamot, cut grass, jasmine absolute, lily of the valley, crushes leaves, patchouli and precious woods.  Based on all that I expected not to like it, but it’s really fresh and clean and I think it’s my favorite of the bunch. It’s really Spring-like and I could totally pick up the cut grass smell.

~Golden Chypre Grossmith: This one is described as a “shimmering, contemporary interpretation of a classic structure” and has notes of cardamon, nutmeg, citrus, rose, geranium, heliotrope, patchouli, vetiver, amber and musk.  At $290 for a full-size bottle (ouch!), it’s a good thing I don’t love this one!  Don’t ask me why, but I thought it smelled like baby powder.  Since this scent is so expensive Olfactif included 1.75mL instead of the normal 2.25mL sample size.  They sent out an e-mail about it today explaining why it was less full than the others in the collection.  Totally makes sense because this one is super pricey.

I’m quite happy with this month’s Olfactif and liked it a lot more than I thought I would!  I (wrongly) expected everything to be too heavy and too strong, but it wasn’t at all.
