Vellabox May 2015 Subscription Box

vellabox is a brand new candle subscription service.  Each month they promise to send a monthly surprise of fabulous 100% SOY artisan candles.  You can select from the following three box options: The Standard: $12/month (~25 hours of burn time), The Aficionado: $20/month (~50 hours of burn time) or The Luxe: $30/month (~75 hours of burn time).  I received “The Luxe” to review.

The Box

The first vellabox ships in May, but I received mine early for review purposes.

Right away the packaging on this one stood out to me.  It was bundled super cute with a checked cloth and the candles were individually wrapped in burlap.  The box didn’t include an information card, but I received the following items:

~No. 11 Amber & Moss Soy Candle by P.F. Candle Co. ($18): These candles are made in small batches using domestically grown soy wax and are hand poured here in the US. This scent is earthy smelling and kind of reminds me of “up-north” (aka Northern Michigan) after it rains.  Burn Time: 40 Hours.

~Paddywax Dandelion + Clover Candle ($10): Paddywax candles are all around amazing, but I think my favorite part is the jar.  Don’t get me wrong, this scent is lovely, but the jars are gorgeous. Burn Time: 20 Hours.

All totaled I came up with a value of $28 for the May 2015 vellabox.  It’s $2 short of the cost of the box, but I would have had to pay shipping if I ordered online which I would have had to do because I have no idea where these candles are sold locally.  I loved the brands they included in this one and thought it felt like a very high-end box.  These are candles I would have selected for myself so I am very happy.

What do you think of vellabox?  If you are interested in ordering or just want to learn more, head on over to their site and check them out.  In addition to offering subscriptions they have an online shop which kind of gives you an idea of what types of brands you may find in your box!
