First Look

I had yet to see full spoilers for this month’s box, so I was going into it half spoiler / half unspoiled which was pretty fun!

The Information Card

The May 2015 GlobeIn theme was “Bake” and included the following items:

~Set of 2 Certified Organic Cotton & Jute Vintage Dish Cloths by Toockies ($10): These are 100% organic cotton and juste and can be used on any surface without scratching.  They are hand-knit in India by women to improve their mobility and livelihood.

~Big Dipper Birthday Candles ($5): L’s birthday is next week so the timing on these is awesome.

~Kelapo Coconut Oil (~$4:) I have a big jar of coconut oil in the kitchen already so I will probably use these packets on my hair.  Not the intended use for them in this box, but it works for me.

~Just Good Chocolate Better World Brownies ($6.75): This was one of the spoilers for the box and I somehow missed that it was a brownie mix and not actual ready-to-eat brownies.  Oops! I was so excited to open this one up and try them too.  LOL!  I suspect they will taste amazing when we make them though.  I was checking out their website and it turns out they are made in Northern Michigan (also known as “up-north”)!  So neat!

~Palm Leaf Basket (Mexico) ($12): Each GlobeIn includes a palm leaf basket (the items are packed inside).  The colors vary and you never know which you will receive.  This one is gorgeous, but I am not totally sure what to do with them all?  Any ideas?

~Alter Eco Cane Sugar ($4.39): Alter Eco partners with cooperatives from all around the world who work directly with farmers to grow their businesses and environmental practices.  I believe you can sub it for regular sugar in recipes, but don’t quote me on that.

All totaled I came up with a value of $42.14 for the May 2015 GlobeIn “Bake” box.  I believe they use prices including shipping on their information card while my prices above do not.  Either way it’s over the value of the $35/month cost of the box and I think we are all looking forward to baking those brownies later!

That sugar is a better substitute for brown sugar than white sugar. (“Muscovado” sugar is the same thing so any recipe calling for either one would work if you Google it.)

I’d stash these baskets with my gift wrapping supplies. What a fun add-on to a gift you’re giving anyway!

I can’t wait. I need to give them my updated credit card information. I think I am going to move them to bill every 3 months. I love every box I received so far.

I use those baskets to store craft supplies — and as an alternative to a gift box or bag for multiple small items. I love ’em. They’re a perfect size for so many purposes.
