Sample Society May 2015 Subscription Box Review
Sample Society May 2015 Subscription Box

Sample Society, which arrived here this afternoon, is the brainchild of the editors of Allure Magazine. Each month they select a curated mix of five deluxe skin, hair, makeup and fragrance samples and deliver them to your door. Your subscription also includes a coupon for $10 off $50 a BeautyBar purchase each month and an Allure penned “mini-magazine” which gives you the details on all the samples.

The Box

Sample Society ships via UPS and always takes just a few days to arrive. I think the boxes ship in batches though because I know some people received theirs before mine even shipped.

First Look

This month’s box was packed full.  Sample Society normally has five items in their boxes, but there were six in this month’s box!

The Information Card

The May 2015 Sample Society theme was “New and Improved” and included the following items:

~John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment ($2.50): This is a gel that you apply in the shower and then rinse out before blow-drying to help give you lots of extra volume that will last for days.  I have so many new hair products from the Nina Garcia box that I am testing so I haven’t tried this one yet.  I hope it works as promised though because that could be a game changer.

~Julep Lip Gloss in Graceful (~$5): I love Julep lip gloss and this is a great little purse sized one.

~Versace Eros Pour Femme ($12.24): I love just about everything about this.  It smells incredible and the bottle is amazing.  I don’t love that it just has an open top and not a sprayer, but I guess you can’t have it all.  It has notes of sicilian lemon, bergamot, pomegranate, jasmine, peony, sandalwood, amber and musk.  It really is incredible.

~Eau Thermale Avene Thermal Spring Water ($4.22): I like fancy canned water, but it’s never something I would buy on my own.  It’s nice to throw in your bag for those hot summer days.

~Laneige Water Sleeping Mask ($5.75): I wouldn’t expect this to be a sleeping mask, but it is!  And I love it.  It’s almost like a gel and feels very cool and refreshing on your skin.  You use it once or twice a week and it can be layered under your regular anti-ager.

~Alterna Caviar Repair Multi-Vitamin Heat Protection Spray ($6.07):The information booklet is right and this does smell like a mojito!  I love it!  And yes, it did make my hair feel extra silky and smooth.

All totaled I came up with a value of $35.78 for the May 2015 Sample Society.  I really liked this box, thought the value was great and hope next month is just as good.

Did you get Sample Society this month?  What’d you think of the box? They aren’t accepting any new subscribers right now (not too sure why), but I will let you know if subscriptions open up again.
