My (second) June 2015 Birchbox arrived yesterday. You can check out my first June Birchbox review here. If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox, which is $10/month, offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes and get some complete steals (which I try to do).
Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.
Since I have two accounts I generally opt for that month’s curated box on one account (that was the box I previously reviewed) and opt for the standard Birchbox on the other account. This review is on the June “Adventure” Birchbox.
I had peeked at this box online (I always do) and thought it looked okay, but for whatever reason I wasn’t as excited when I opened up the box.
My June 2015 Adventure themed Birchbox contained the following items:
~Dr. Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Water ($2.67): I had heard so many fantastic things about this so sample choice this month was easy! It makes my skin feel great and I really think it did brighten it. I will be using my points to buy the full-size of this.
~Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner (~$3): I am guessing that this was in place of the Eyeko Eyeliner everyone was supposed to get this month that ended up getting stuck in customs? I get way more eyeliner than I could ever use in my lifetime so I’ll be giving this to a friend (I don’t think my friends ever have to buy eyeliner). I do think it’s a great color though and a nice change from the black eyeliners we always get.
~Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel (~$3): Love this stuff! I got in my curated box this month and I selected it as my sample choice (on my other account) last month. It’s cool to watch the dead skin “ball up” and isn’t a scary peel like you think of when you hear the word “peel”. I will eventually buy the full size of this, but for now I am thrilled with all the samples I have been getting from Birchbox.
~Temple Spa Good Hair Shampoo ($1.79) & In Good Condition Conditioner ($1.72): I don’t dislike getting shampoo and conditioners, but I am also not overly excited about it. These are in my shower now and thought they left my hair looking great. However, I may not be the best person to test these considering that I just got my hair cut (professionally) for the first time in ages so I feel like my hair is looking pretty good in general right now!
~Emi Jay Hair Tie ($2.20): I like how these hair ties look only wrist (I always have a hair tie on my wrist) and they work well in my hair, but after a few uses I end up with a mess of tangled hair in the band and it’s all stretched out (that could be my fault though). Does anyone ever re-tie these to make it smaller again?
All totaled my June 2015 Birchbox has a value of $14.38. Including the points I get for purchasing the box (10 points = $1 to spend at Birchbox) and reviewing / sharing the items in the box (60 points = $6), the value increases to $21.38. I loved two of the items in here (the micro-water and the peel), but overall I felt like it was kind of an off month for me. I saw some boxes other people received though and it looks like some of this month’s boxes were fantastic!
Have you gotten your Birchbox yet this month? What’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing new customers can use the coupon code “THETIG15” to get the Tig “Ready, Set Summer” Birchbox to start your subscription.
What prize did you win? I saw on Instagram ladies were getting 10% and 20% plus a few customers got the killer colors Benefit eyeliner from the contest. Still waiting for my boxes: PopSugar, Birchbox (2 accounts), FabFitFun and the Summer Goodebox a good month!
So THAT’S the story with the missing Eyeco eyeliners? Thanks for sharing! How did you find out? I got 3 people to subscribe spexifically for the eyeliner and they will NOT be pleased. I hope BB does the right thing and includes them as an extra next month!
They included a little blurb about them in your shipping e-mail!
