Bramble Box May 2015

Bramble Box, who kindly sent me this box to review, provides creative play kits containing dramatic play materials and activities. Educational and fun, Bramble Boxes promote free play. Every box contains all the materials you need and a little inspiration – all you have to add is imagination. Boxes are designed for children age 3 – 8, but could be enjoyed by a variety of ages of children over age 3. Since the activities are open ended, kids can use them in a way that best suits their play level.

The Box

Bramble Box ships via USPS Priority Mail and took just a few days to arrive. If you sign up before midnight on the 4th of the month, then they will ship your first crate from Pennsylvania by the 15th of that month.

First Look

I could tell the theme for this one as soon as I opened it and I knew the boys would want to get started on it right away.

The Information Card

The May 2015 Bramble Box theme was “Gardener” and included the following items / projects:

~Melissa & Doug Gardening Tools (Happy Giddy Trowel & Cultivator): We didn’t really need these for this month;s project, but WB insisted on carrying them around anyway.  He’ll use them in the backyard to help with the garden and to play in the sandbox with too.

~Egg Carton Garden: The real project in this box was egg carton garden.  It included dirt pellets and “Tickle Me Plant” seeds. I guess after the plant grows you can tickle the plant and it will move?  I cannot wait to see that!

Both boys were super interested in this one.  We added water to the soil pellets and loved watching them grow.  We may have over watered, but it’s easy to empty out the excess water.

In Process

What we didn’t realize when we started this was that the seeds needed to soar for 24-48 hours before you planted them. I suppose we should have read the seed packet first.  So our seeds are currently soaking and we’ll plant them right after!  Once they grow and can be tickled I will post a video on Instagram!

Just Waiting

The box also included stickers to decorate your egg carton and two larger pots (along with soil) to transfer your plants to once they get to big for the egg carton.  The boys loved this and we cannot wait until out tickle plants grow!
