The Box

Birchbox Man USPS (through Newgistics) and generally arrives during the first few days of the month.  Or at the end of the previous month like this one (and the past few month’s) did.

The Field & Forest Box

I ended up opting for the curated box option this month.  Subscribers were able to choose between the curated Field and Forest box or one of three lifestyle items: Coalatree Nomad Backpack, Native Union Key Cable Lightning Cord or the W&P Enamelware Camp Mug Set.  I had originally intended to get the Native Union Key Cable, but it ended up selling out before reserved, so I went for the curated box.

With the curated box you know exactly what items you will receive, but you don’t know the exact sizes until the items arrive.

The Information Card

The August 2015 Field and Forest Birchbox Man included the following rugged supplies fit for any far-flung trading post:

~Baxter of California Hydro Salve Hand Cream ($4.80): I suspect B is going to need this when he gets back when this trip!  It’s a hydrating hand cream with aloe vera, shea butter, and avocado oil.  Also, it’s unscented, so no worries about not liking the scent.

~das boom Industries Everywhere Lotion (Denali) ($3): We have received this in a few scents and B has liked them all.  “Denali” is a “jupiter, pine & cedar” scent and was really fit the “forest” part of this box.

~Hanz de Funko Natural Shampoo & Conditioner ($2.07): This shampoo smells like cherry cough syrup.  I have smelled it about a dozen times and I keep coming back to cough syrup.  Needless to say, it’s different than any other shampoo I have ever smelled.  I will have to see what B thinks! I do love that they included a small packet of the conditioner as a bonus.

~Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash ($3.50): This foaming face wash has been in a few different boxes and B is a big fan. I think he has used up (or is close to) using up all of his other face washes so the timing on this is perfect.

~W&P Enamelware Camp Mug Set ($25): These seem to me (a non-camper) like a classic camping item. B and L still talk about going on a camping trip all the time and even if it’s just in the backyard this summer, they can take these along.

~Birchbox Man + River Virtual Reality Viewer ($10): I have to say, this is pretty trippy.  LOL.  I had a little trouble assembling it (the lenses kept falling out) and my phone is too big for it, but I made it work.  It’s a total novelty and I plan on showing it to L to see what he thinks of it.  It was like an imax in a box. Or like watching a go pro video?  Maybe a combination of both. I wouldn’t pay $10 for it, but it was fun to try.

All totaled I came up with a value of $48.37 for the August 2015 Birchbox Man box.  I haven’t checked into what items other subscribers who didn’t opt for the curated box received, but I am really happy with this box.  B will use everything in it and he’ll get a kick out of the virtual reality viewer.

Why can’t they make Birchboxes for women that awesome?? That’s a great value for a $20 box, the upgraded BB aren’t that great and are $30 for usually mascara or nail polish.

I just enrolled my husband, I hope he likes it, I like your reviews and it looks like it includes things he could really try and use, lets see how it goes 😉
