RawSpiceBar, who kindly sent me this package to review, sends 3-4 hand-picked, small batch, freshly ground spice blends with each monthly box. Each of the blends weigh about 0.5 ounces, which allows you to create a single dish feeding approximately 12-14 people. You will also receive kitchen-tested, detailed recipes and ideas for each spice blend you receive as well as fun gifts and stories about the history and origins of each blend every month.
RawSpiceBar ships at the beginning of the month via USPS. Shipments to the US are expected to take between 5 and 7 days, while shipments to Canada may take up to 3 weeks to arrive.
I could smell the spices in this one as soon as I opened the package. I can usually smell then, but it was much stronger in this package (I didn’t know that one of my spices was open yet). I also noticed that RawSpiceBar had changed up their packaging a little with this month’s shipment. It looked good!
The July 2015 RawSpiceBar featured “The Memphis Spice Box” and included the following:
~Triple Ice Cream Spices: I have eaten a lot of ice cream in my day, but I have never eaten triple spice ice-cream! It’s a blend of whole milk, cornstarch, heavy cream, sugar and salt. And of course, these spices. As soon as B gets home we are trying this. I know the kids won’t eat it and I don’t want it to go to waste. This is a blend of cinnamon, green cardamon and star anise and sound interesting to say the least.
~Memphis Dry Rub: Memphis Dry Rib Rub is exactly what you think it would be. A rub for ribs! I know this is going to be B’s favorite and he will he grilling up ribs soon.
~Bacon Potato Salad with Smoked Salmon: The reason I could smell the spices so strongly this month is because this one was actually open. Oops! It’s never happened to me before so I think it was just a fluke thing. They usually come very very well sealed. The recipe included with this one was for a Bacon Potato Salad with Smoked Salt. It sounds good and the picture looks even better!
