Two questions today…
1. When do your kids go back to school? Schools (generally) don’t start until after Labor Day here in Michigan (it’s state law), so we’ve still got plenty of summer left. But I am noticing on Instagram and Facebook that some schools are headed back soon! When do your kiddos go back? Have you started Back to School shopping yet?
2. What is your favorite summer drink? I posted yesterday about wine in a can (which I bought at my local Kroger grocery store) and it got me wondering what everyone else is drinking this summer? I don’t drink a ton of alcohol, but I do like wine in a can (all the varieties are good) and those Malibu Rum canned drinks are pretty darn good too. In my (constant) effort to drink less Diet Pepsi (I am SO good for a while and then so bad and then so good, etc.), I picked up some La Croix, but meh, I don’t love it. Maybe it’s an acquired taste? It is a good change up from water though. What are you drinking this summer? Any new favorite wines? Fun drinks? Good fruit-infused water flavors?
Next week is our last week of summer down in Atlanta! We go back to school August 3rd!
I also can’t stand La Croix!! I keep trying it bc people rave about it but it’s just not my thing at all. We are in Atlanta and we go back Aug 10. Summer is over for us. 🙁
1. Texas mandated that public schools cannot start earlier than the 4th Monday in August (coincidentally high school football usually starts the first week of school too, which is a big deal down here), however the stores have had school supplies and sales going on for about a month now.
2. I’m a big sweet tea drinker, I drank a half a gallon by myself yesterday afternoon. Fortunately I don’t like it super sweet like most people… one cup of sugar to a full gallon of tea is plenty sweet for me! Other than that, my husband and I drink St. Arnold’s Lawnmower or Shiner Ruby Redbird since Shiner only makes it during the summer.
We go back the first Thursday in September. Love having a long summer break!!
I LOVE mimosas but can’t drink at the moment as I’m expecting 🙂
My kids start Sept 8th and we are in NJ.
I dont drink it much at all but I do love Rumchatta in most anything it makes and awesome white russian. Summer to me is a good Mojito. And for water, I have done it for years on and off, but I recently read about all of the amazing benefits of lemon and I’m back to adding lemon to my water. And chaga tea.
My kids return to school August 10th as well, 3 weeks left :(…I drink mainly water, but for social engagements (BBQ’s and such, it’s Smirnoff Triple Black that’s most refreshing in Louisiana heat.
You know that we have year round school here so N is already back. This is actually his last week before he tracks out for 3 weeks. He has tons of plans for his summer break coming up. Since C is only in preschool he starts back after Labor Day.
I’ve been horrible lately and gotten on a Dr Pepper kick. Not even diet Dr. Pepper but regular old full of sugar Dr Pepper 🙁 I need to nip this in the bud. LOL My other choice drink is lemonade. My boys and I always have some made. Then in the evening I might add a little extra to mine too 😉
I see nothing wrong with a dr pepper kick. That is one of the best drinks ever. Second to coffee. Of course, I have given up sodas for health reasons at the moment… But I am a dr pepper girl to my core.
I know when I was in school, I did marching band and we always went back like the second week of August for 2 weeks of summer band before school started. And like a previous poster said – football is huge down here and it seems like we always started the season that first week of school. Of course all we had by that time marching wise was probably a song or two and March out stand there and play it then March off.
My little starts preschool 8/12…seems too early to me!
I drink Spark in the a.m. And water for the remainder of the day. I will drink La Croix, but I usually mix Spark in it for flavor.
Our schools start back the last week of August … I haven’t really started school supply shopping, but thankfully, where we live, its still hot for the first few months of the year, so there isn’t much need for “back to school” clothes.
I bought some La Croix once.. it’s actually still in my fridge. I thought it would taste good since it was right next to the San Pelligrino only cheaper. Yuck. I like sparkling water, but whatever that stuff is was just gross.
For summer drinks, lemonade and iced tea and sometimes the two mixed together. Water and juice and fruit smoothies (frozen fruit, OJ & a banana). For booze I just really like beer. And rum. And mai Thai’s. I’ve been craving a white russian but those seem more like fall drinks due to the cream. I really like mimosas too but don’t drink those often, unless I’m with my family, since my boyfriend doesn’t like them and I don’t want to polish off a whole bottle of champagne myself.
Oh, and bellinis!! I need to make some of those soon, so good.
My girls go back August 6th here in KY. Due to all the snow days they had to make up at the end of the year, they only ended up getting 8 weeks off for summer. In addition to that, my soon to be 6th grader received letters in the mail from a couple of her teachers. One of them wanted her to do problems on a math website over the summer, and the reading teacher requires they read a book and be ready to discuss on the first day of school. So, it feels like they really didn’t get much of a summer honestly.
Don’t rule out LaCroix until you try the mango or the passion fruit. yum
My favorite summer drink is ginger ale and cranberry but it has to have a squeeze of fresh lime. I like it plain but you can add whichever alcohol you like.
Answer 1: I live and teach in FL, we as teachers return to school the first week, around the 7th to the 12th of August, students return anywhere between the 17th and the following week. SO out summer is almost at an end.
Question 2: I drink ALOT of flavored water and gator aide; I have progressive MS and need to be hydrated so that the medications i use for my treatment help me stay on my feet, to have a teacher hit the floor in the middle of the day… sooo not cool.. :o)
Krista
I love La Croix now, but I do think it’s an acquired taste. What flavor did you try? Some are not as good as others (my favs are Coconut, Orange and Cherry Lemon)
