Two questions today…
1. What is your biggest Pinterest fail? My mom and I made these funfetti candles from Pinterest yesterday and yeah, it didn’t quite work out like it was supposed to. I have zero idea how the original poster got the sprinkles to actually stay on the side of the jar after the wax was poured in. Ours did NOT work like that! We eventually got them to stick using clear glue, but I am not really sure how safe it would be to burn them now though. LOL. Other than these candles, I haven’t had too many Pinterest fails, but that’s mainly because I pick simple projects to do. What about you? Have you had any Pinterest fails?
2. What’s your favorite summer date night activity? B and I always stick with the old standby dates – usually dinner, so I want some fresh ideas. What are you favorite summer dates?
1- I tried to make raspberry swirl buttermilk pancakes the other day that I saw on pinterest. The problem was that the original blog post that it linked to did not give good instructions for the raspberry compote. It did not work out and the pancakes stuck terribly to my griddle 🙁 it was a cereal kind of morning after all!
2- sadly we haven’t had too many date nights this summer, but one of my favorites is packing a picnic dinner and going to watch Shakespeare in the park, or enjoying an outdoor concert. I also want to do one of those paint-your-own-pottery type places one date night. Might have to make that happen soon!
That made me laugh! Some of those Pinterest projects look SO easy! IN reality they are super hard and cost a fortune!
Those are great date ideas!!!!
1. I haven’t had any Pinterest fails – yet. I’m pretty savvy in the kitchen and that’s what the majority of my Pinterest is now that my wedding has come and gone.
2. My husband and I like to go to the beach on the weekend, the gulf about an hour and a half away so we pack lunch and take the dogs and make a day out of it!
Send some of that kitchen savvy my way!
I haven’t done too many crafts but I have had quite a few recipe FAILS. My kids actually asked me to stop trying recipes from there lmao. I did have 2 fails in the home improvement category though–one was cleaning your baking pans–didn’t work and one was for getting the yellow crusty stains off of armpits and that didn’t work either. Both were huge wastes of time lol.
Date nights? What are THOSE???? I haven’t had a date NIGHT with my husband in so long it’s crazy. SIGH.
I actually don’t know what they are either!! I am hoping to get some in before summer is over though!
I am cracking up that your kids said that!!!!
1. did you do the corn syrup mixture on the sides to make the sprinkles stick?
I havent had any fails yet, but I have had to redo and tweek or really reread some of the things I have tried. Sometimes I miss steps or misread or even some steps arent fully there and you have have to dig and find another version of that project. But in the end it works out. Like the tie dyed girls tshirt/coverup. It was my third shirt that came out perfect. the first two look hacky. but for going to the pool my girls love them anyway.
2. Our summer date nights have been parties. I dont know why, but this year we have a party almost every weekend. Some are with kids some are without. So too busy this summer for us. And theres a Lebanese restaurant that I love, sometimes that.
Yeah, we used Karo Syrup. This summer has been quite hectic! I can’t wait for things to settle down a bit.
1. Bunt cake pumpkin cakes-yeahhh they looked okay? But not really like pumpkins!
2. Drive in movies! Do you have one by you?
The drive-in! That sounds so fun! I think we have one around here somewhere? That actually sounds really fun for the kids too!
Also, did you use the corn syrup to try and get the sprinkles to stick?
We used Karo Syrup. The sprinkles stuck fine until the wax got poured in.
1. I haven’t really crafted anything from Pinterest. Crafting is not something that I enjoy, lol. I have done a handful of recipes though and they’ve all turned out fine. Again, nothing showy just dinner or different cookies and cakes.
2. The drive in is our favorite!! We’ve been 3x this summer so far.
Worst Pinterest fail for me was the foot soak using Listerine and vinegar. I used blue Listerine and my feet were dyed blue for over a week.
Is it bad that I am laughing thinking of your blue feet? That so sounds like something I would do!
1. Pinterest fails — oh man, I’ve definitely had plenty of recipes turn out horrible! But probably the worst thing was the frozen yogurt bites! My kids love yogurt, so I made some up and put them in the freezer … but didn’t really stop to think about what happens if you just leave them out, like Gerber yogurt bites { which are freeze-dried} … oops. I made them up, put them in bowls as a surprise snack after naps, and when the kids got to them … they had all melted. Totally my fault!
2. We usually get away for lunch instead of dinner, but if we go out for the evening, we try to either catch a movie, or we go mini golfing. We love to shoot — so sometimes we’ll just go down to the river and target shoot, too!
Haven’t had too many pintrest fails, simply because I’ve only ever done one project, lol. I did the crayon drip art and it actually came out really well. My nephew, niece, and I made a heart that the two of them gave to their mom for Christmas and she still has it. It was painfully difficult to do though, such a hassle that it made me decide not to do anything else from pintrest.
For date night, the boyfriend and i just watch a movie at his place. He cooks supper and does the dishes, and is a great cook, so I won’t be complaining about doing the same thing every Tuesday, lol! On the weekends he has his kids and we do family things. We either buy an art kit of some sort for his girls to do or go swimming or to the park one day and let the girls get their fill of tv the other day as they don’t watch tv during the week.
