calmbox August 2015 Subscription Box

calmbox is a monthly box for peaceful moments. Every calmbox includes items to help with mindfulness and calm, anything from books to candles, natural minerals and crystals, aromatic herbs, music, tea, motivational cards, physical aids, and much more! Each month they choose a new theme (like meditation, zen, or mindfulness) and ship a box to your door with items to help you live a calmer, more peaceful life.

The Box

calmbox ships via USPS during the first week of the month. If you sign up prior to the 23rd at 4pm PST of any month, you will receive the upcoming month’s box – if you sign up afterwards, you will receive the following month’s box.

You can’t see it, but the first look smelled great!  Very spa like!

The Information Card

The August 2015 calmbox included the following items:

~You Are Here by Thich Nhat Hanh ($6.88): This book was written by the spiritual leader and Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh.  According to Amazon, the book offers a range of simple, effective practices for cultivating mindfulness, including awareness of breathing and walking, deep listening, and skillful speech.  I could use some tips on being more in the present so I will make it a point to check this book out.

~Grey Houston Delta Waves CD (~$10): I can’t find this for sale online anywhere so I estimated the price.  This is insanely calming – so much so that there is no way I could ever listen to it in the car (the only place I have a CD player) for an extended period of time.  However, it’s also available in MP3 form on the calmbox website!

~Handmade Lavender Soap by Adam’s Handmade Soaps ($7.99): Between this and the Organic Lavender Sachet that was also included, the box smelled amazing. This soap is all-natural and is made with responsibly sourced, carefully chosen ingredients.

~Tumbled Amethyst Stone & Seashell: Amethyst is said to be a meditative and calming stone that works “in the emotional and spiritual planes to provide calm, balance and peace”.  L gave me a bunch of “purple stones” as he called them for my birthday and I carry them with me in my purse all the time.  Anything to bring me a little extra energy and calm!

~Annie’s Bunny Fruit Snacks and Yogi Tea: I expect to see tea in all boxes of this nature.  The fruit snacks were a fun surprise and they are long gone!  So yummy!

The box also included a few “Mindfulness Reminders” which are basically cards with inspirational messages on them to help as a reminder to be more mindful during the day. I didn’t have prices available for everything online, so I was unable to do a cost breakdown on this one.  I would venture a guess that it’s not a huge “value” and is instead more about the curation and products in this one.
