Two questions today…

1.Do you have any Back 2 School traditions? School starts around here in a couple of weeks and I feel like we need to start a new tradition. It’ll be WB’s first year of school ever and L will be starting 2nd grade. Do you do anything special the night before school? Make a special breakfast the day of? Or do you do something fun after school on the first day? Also, do you do any little teacher gifts for the first day? If so, what do you do?

2.What is your favorite board game? I think I’ve asked this one in the past, but we’ve been playing board games again lately so it’s got me thinking about it. Plus, Target has all these retro board games for sale which are exactly like the ones I used to have as a kid. Actually my parents probably still have them. Anyway, Clue is one of my current favorites. L and B and I have been playing it and I love it!!

    1. My mom always let us have whatever we wanted for breakfast the morning of school. (Any other day it was leftovers or cereal.) My favorite was going to the local diner super early and having an omelet. She also gave us each two “tickets” for a mental health day to be used during the year. We could redeem them for any reason, except actual illness, and she would excuse us for the day. She’s a teacher, by the way! We will do the same things with our kids, once they are old enough.

    2. I don’t actually like board games. If I had to pick one, I guess Monopoly. I prefer card games, my favorite being Euchre!

1 I do make a super special breakfast (by special, i mean bacon is involved) since they get up early and are usually off the first week shifting schedules (aka cranky). We go over everything the night before. Make sure all our things are packed, outfits picked out. We talk about how exciting it will be. I get my ‘morning waiting for the bus on the first day” picture. And I also like to surprise them with cupcakes (or i have done other treats like candy bags or such) after the first day to celebrate. And then I get slammed with paperwork times 3 and HUGE LONG LISTS of school supplies needed. I stopped pre shopping since the lists are different by grade. I think my routine is pretty much the same as most everyone else tho.
2 our fave game has been Clue as well. we started getting really into board games this passed winter and it took off from there. but the one gmae that seems to get them most involved is Clue and we have Simpsons clue too which is so cute. I have an old 80s game called Stop Thief and they liked that too.

    1. I don’t have any kids yet, but I think the first day pictures are so cute. All my friend’s kids started yesterday and it was adorable seeing all their pictures!

    2. I love Sorry and Clue, and a good game of chess every once in a while is nice!
