Box of Chic September / October 2015 Subscription Box Review

Box of Chic is a brand new subscription box featuring stylish home decor, housewares, and accessories with a coordinated theme in each month’s box. It’s $49.99/box (plus shipping) and is curated by interior decorator and blogger, Jennifer Wagner Schmidt of JWS Interiors (@jwsinteriors). Each box will surprise you with pretty pieces for your desk, coffee table, kitchen, bar, dining room, bedroom and more!  They have a September/October Box and a November/December box available for purchase and will begin subscriptions in 2016.

The Box

Box of Chic ships via USPS Priority Mail and took just a few days to arrive.  They ship in a flat rate Priority Mail box which is equal to the cost of the shipping they charge for the box.

First Look

All of the contents of this box were revealed in advance on the Box of Chic site. I don’t know if it will always be like this, but I am kind of happy is it.  This is a spendy box and it’d be nice to know if you’d use and enjoy that month’s contents before paying for it.

The Card

The September/October Box of Chic box includes:

~Black and White Pillow Cover (17′ x 17″) (~$25): I can’t figure out the brand / maker of this pillow cover, so I estimated the price based on a few similar ones.  I have some inserts I can use in this (they recommend an 18×18 insert) and I like the print, so this is a win for me.  Box of Chic recommends putting it on your office chair to pretty it up a little.

~Rosanna Zou Bisou Bisou Gold Polka Dot Ceramic Tray ($18): I had to google the meaning of “Zou Bisou Bisou” and it turns out it loosely translates into “Oh! Kiss Kiss”.  Totally cute.  But while I do like the phrase, I think I would like the tray even better if it was just plain gold polka dot.  I know it’s probably not as stylish that way, but that’s just me.  Still it will look adorable on my desk which has been due for a change.

~Harvest Paper Co. Girl Boss Pencils (Set of 3) ($5.75): These pencils are printed with “Girl Boss” meaning not only are they functional and a desk necessity, but they are also fun!  If I saw these in a store, I would buy them.  In all seriousness, I actually just bought some printed pencils at Target.

~Aromasoy White Gardenia Candle Tin ($4.27): I love little travel tin candles like this and this will go directly on my desk. It smells light and beautiful and it burns so nicely.

~Tortoise Shell Matchbox (~$4): The design on this matchbox is beautiful. I found the box being sold alone on etsy alone (3 for $8.50), but the matches cannot be sold on etsy anymore, so I added a little extra in the price.  I never use matches to light candles anymore but B sometimes does I believe.  I will empty out the matches from this box and leave it on my desk because it is so cute.

Tortoise Glasses Matchbox

All totaled the September / October Box of Chic box had a value of $57.02.  The box also included a 4×6 “For You” flat card illustrated by Wenna Prive, which is super adorable. I liked this box and thought the contents were adorable (and very “me”), but I do wish the value was higher.  I am hoping that as the box becomes more established this will be easier to do for them.

What do you think of Box of Chic? If you are interested in ordering or want to learn more, you can check them out here.  This September / October is still available or you can get the November / December box, but be warned, it’s not shipping until November so you may want to wait a bit (I don’t like to pay too far in advance for anything).
