GlobeIn September 2015 Subscription Box – “Wellness”

The GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring GlobeIn‘s favorite products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by their editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures.

The Box

GlobeIn ships via USPS. Boxes ship on the 15th of the month (I received mine early for review purposes). Orders placed after the 15th of the calendar month will ship on the 15th of the following calendar month.  If boxes sell out before the 15th your subscription will begin the following month.

First Look

GlobeIn releases spoilers for their boxes in advance so I knew what to expect from this box.  But I was still excited by the first look.

The Information Booklet
Inside

The September 2015 GlobeIn theme was “Wellness”.  From GlobeIn “So much more than good health alone, wellness is a state of physical, mental, and social harmony. It is a brightness of energy coursing through all levels of our being. It is a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts, cultivated by infusing daily activities with a spark of intention and care.” The box included the following:

~ABAN Blessing Bag (Ghana) ($12): I expected this to be just a pouch, but it’s much cooler than that.  It’s heavy and has a lining made of discarded plastic water satchels from the streets of Ghana.  I love the pattern I received (a few different varieties were sent out) and the stone zipper attachment is pretty neat too.

~Eye Pillow by Textiles of Shipibo and Yeni Artisans (Peru) ($13): Ahh, so relaxing!  It’s like being at the spa.  The cotton has been dyed in mahogany bark and painted using a piece bamboo dipped in the juice of the huito berry. So neat!

~Atacora Baobab Super Fruit Powder (5.75oz / 161g) ($11): I have never heard of fruit powder before, but from the sounds of the information booklet you can add it to just about anything. They recommend putting it in smoothies, fruit, cereal, sauces, soups and baking.  I am thinking about adding it to a smoothie and muffins first.

Baobab Powder (Benin)

~Palm Leaf Basket by GlobeIn (Mexico) ($12): All GlobeIn Artisan boxes include a palm leaf basket.  If the items all fit, they arrive packed inside the basket.

~Watsi Gift Card ($5): All boxes also included a $5 Watsi Gift Card which can be used to help fund life-changing healthcare for a patient in need. You can go on the site, read the patients stories and select how you want your gift card to be used.

All totaled I came up with a value of $53 for the September 2015 GlobeIn box. I liked this box much better in person than I did in pictures.  Everything was much more unique and interesting than I was expecting!
