Hamptons Lane Subscription September 2015 – “French Kitchen Essentials” Review + Coupon Code

Hamptons Lane curates an amazing monthly box of artisan foods, kitchen tools, and serveware for the food lover. Boxes are $47/month and are revealed at the beginning of every month. Boxes are created around a monthly theme, such as Southwestern Fiesta, Summer Cocktail, The Best of BBQ, Coastal Italy, etc. Unlike most subscription boxes, you can skip the box if it doesn’t interest you during the first five days of that month.

Hamptons Lane generally ships in the second half of the month. I receive mine a little earlier for review purposes.

As I mentioned, the contents of Hamptons Lane are always revealed at the beginning of the month, so opening it is never much of a surprise.

The September 2015 Hamptons Lane theme was “French Kitchen Essentials”. The information booklet includes product information along with recipes and a little background on the theme.  Here is what the box included:

~Paris U Select Chocolate Peppermill from Peugeot ($35.39): We have bought plastic peppermills before, but this one is 100x better. And won’t crack!  It has six settings – from ultra fine to coarse and is crafted from sustainable beechwood. Of all the amazing and unique items we have received from Hamptons Lane, this is the one we will get the most use out of.

~Fleur de Sel Aux Herbs de Provence from Sel Magique ($9.50): This blend of herbs is made in the south of France from hand-harvested Fleur de Sel.  We have gotten this before and it’s awesome.  You can use this mixture of Lavender, Thyme, Savory and Marjoram on just about anything.

~Vintage Style French Torchons from Hamptons Lane: I didn’t realize it, but “torchons” are just a fancy word for tea towels!  We can always use some tea towels and these are extra neat because they have a loop you can use to hang them up.

~Moutarde de Dijon from La Moutarderie Fallot ($5): There is no doubt in my mind that this is fantastic mustard, but since I don’t like mustard (no matter how fancy it is), there’s no way I will like it straight from the jar. Now if B used it in a marinade or sauce, I probably would be none the wiser!

~French Green Lentils from North Bay Trading Co. ($4.27): There isn’t a recipe for these in the information booklet, but the  Hamptons Lane website has a great looking French Lentil Salad.  Even the dijon vinaigrette on it sounds good.  I know why people like french lentils (they are very flavorful and hold their shape while cooking), but I don’t know the meaning behind the name.  Does anyone know?

The towels are a Hamptons Lane produced item so I wasn’t able to grab a price for those and couldn’t do a cost breakdown on this box.  However, the value of the peppermill and the herbs alone were equal to the most of the box, so you can be fairly certain you’re getting a deal on this one.  Since you know what’s coming in the box you won’t ever been disappointed with a box or upset with the contents!  If you don’t like it you can easily skip that month.
