Treat Chest August 2015 Subscription Box Review
Treat Chest August 2015 Subscription Box

Treat Chest is a monthly candy subscription club. Each box will be a surprise assortment of five or more varieties of treats, ranging from gummie bears to rock candy to licorice, plus anything and everything in between.

The Box

Treat Chest ships via USPS at the beginning of the first week of the month to ensure freshness.  If you order before the 15th of the month and they still have boxes you will receive that month’s box.  If you order after the 15th, your order will ship the following month.

First Look

I expected the first look to be more…  More what I don’t know.  I just thought it would be more something.  The August 2015 Treat Chest didn’t contain an information card, but the following items were included:

~Albanese Gummy Bears (~$3): I had to laugh when I opened up this box because I just had a conversation with some lady at Costco about gummy bears and she recommended these.  This saved me the trouble of having to go out and find them.  I like gummy bears as it is, so I thought these were good.  I cannot, however, tell the difference in the flavors. Not in these gummy bears or any other brand.

~Kookaburra Liquorice Strawberry & Cream Bites ($2.59): These are good.  A little different, but good.  The red ones have a cream center and the others are creamy on the outside with a strawberry licorice on the inside.

~Jelly Belly 30 Flavors ($2.62): L thinks Jelly Belly’s are the coolest.  And I agree. None of these flavors are over the top crazy (like the sweaty socks ones or fresh cut grass ones), but it’s fun to try them all and guess which ones you get.

~Rock Candy ($8): Rock candy reminds me of when I was a kid. They are a total novelty item and not really something I would want to eat too often.

Rock Candy

~Smarties ($0.49): These are giant Smarties, not the regular Smarties you normally think of when you think of Smarties.  If you like Smarties, you’ll probably like these.

Giant Smarties

~Taffy Town Taffy (Frosted Cupcake) (~$5): Kind of like with gummy bears I can never figure out what flavor of taffy I am eating.  I know I liked these, but I doubt I would have been able to guess they were frosted cupcake flavored unless I looked it up (which I did).

Taffy Town Taffy

All totaled I came up with a value of $21.70 for the August 2015 Treat Chest.  I liked the candy in the box just fine, but the value didn’t come anywhere close to the cost of the box.  If the items were difficult to find or from overseas I would understand it a bit more, but this box need to get some more value in it!
