The Allure Beauty Box includes five or more deluxe sized beauty products every month. Boxes are curated by the editors of Allure magazine and also include a special-edition “mini magazine” chock full of the most trusted product reviews you’ve come to expect from Allure. July was the first month after the switch from “Allure Sample Society” to the “Allure Beauty Box”. Honestly had I not previously known about the change I never would have noticed anything different about this box.
The Allure Beauty Box ships via USPS and took just a few days to arrive. I think they ship in batches because I know that some people’s boxes have yet to ship.
We had gotten a peel at full spoilers on this box so I knew what to expect, but I didn’t know totally 100% for sure what everything in it was.
The October 2015 Allure Beauty Box theme was “New Habits” and included the following items:
~Bumble and Bumble All-Style Blow Dry Cream (.5fl. oz) ($3.50): This cream is designed to smooth hair without leaving it flat. It’s more liquidity than your traditional cream product and has a light floral scent. According to the information card the key is to use more of this than you think you need. So I did! I was happy that it did everything it promised and think this will be a winter go-to item. It extends the life of your blowout and also works to volumize your hair.
~Rituals Ginkgo’s Secret Ginseng & Ginko Biloba Hand Balm (2.5 fl.oz) ($17): This is a very thick, non-greasy hand cream. It absorbs much faster than you’d expect and leaves skin super soft. I expected the scent to be strong, but it’s actually quite nice and light. It’s described as a “green” scent and I guess I can see that.
~Jouer Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil (3mL) ($4.80): Subscribers this month will receive either the Daily Clarifying Treatment Oil or the Daily Repair Treatment Oil. I received the Clarifying Oil which is actually a great fit for me. It’s designed to lock in skin’s moisture, kill acne-causing bacteria and reduce redness. The card recommends using this for breakouts and I will be doing just that. It seems odd to treat a breakout with oil, but heck, why not give it a try?
~Red Flower Lymphatic Phytopower Sea Cleanser and Mask (32.5mL) ($5.25): I really thought this was a conditioner or a lotion, but it’s actually a cleanser that doubles as a moisturizing mask. It’s actually a really cool product. I am planning on using it mainly as a mask because it left my skin glowing the first time I tried it, but I am sure that I will use it as a cleanser now and then as well.
~Cargo Eye Shadow – Oz (0.12oz / 3.5g) ($16): Oz is a warm golden yellow shimmer. Subscribers will receive ether Flint (a grayish brown matte), Pasadena (matte pink), Greenbay (a light olive green) or the Oz color I received. The yellow isn’t as bright as it appears, but it doesn’t do much for me. It actually makes me look kind of ill. I will be passing this along to a friend who can wear it better than I can.
~Kryolan Lipstick Matt in Aurora, Eos and Nike (~$5): I love lipstick samples like this. I prefer the little pots much more than an actual lipstick because I feel like I can get as much or as little color as I want. These are super pigmented so a little goes a LONG way. The Aurora is a cranberry red, Eos is a shocking tangerine and Nike is a straight-up fuchsia. I have to say, Aurora is my favorite!
All totaled I came up with a value of $51.55 for the October 2015 Allure Beauty Box. As usual the value was incredible and I don’t have a bad thing to say about this box. If you are on the fence about this one, I highly recommend getting signed up!
