Bojerky is a monthly beef jerky subscription box. Each month subscribers receive craft jerky from all around the US. Subscribers can opt for the “Regular” size $30/month which contains 6oz of 4+ flavors of jerky or the “Half” for $15/month which contains 3oz of 2+ flavors of jerky. I received the Regular to review.
Bojerky ships via USPS and took a handful of days to arrive to me. They ship from Detroit and I am only about 45 minutes outside of Detroit, so that explains why it comes so quickly.
I love that Bojerky uses such a wide variety of brands in their boxes. It doesn’t have an information card, but the October 2015 box include the following:
~Ayoba-Yo Biltong Spicy Beef Snack ($8.99): Biltong is sort of like jerky, but sort of not. It’s not cooked or smoked, but instead is spiced, marinated and dried in a dehydrator, which leaves it more tender. I have realized what I don’t like about jerky is how tough it is, so this is great. It’s a little on the spicy side, but I do love how tender it is.
~Seabear Smoked Salmon Jerky ($7.99): This is jerky is made from fillets of wild Alaskan King Salmon. I don’t think I ave ever had salmon jerky (or any kind of fish jerky), but it was good. It didn’t taste too fishy and didn’t have an aftertaste at all which surprised me.
~Righteous Felon Che-Potle Guevara ($8): This is described as a “mild jerky, peppered with chili powders and cumin”. I decided to save this one for B to open and enjoy because even though it says it’s mild, I think my definition of mild is different than everyone else’s. I also want to mention that a portion of sales from all Righteous Felon products go to support The Innocence Project.
~Dave’s Meat & Nuts Smoked Beef Strips with Minced Garlic ($8): I left this one for B to open as well (I can only try so much jerky at once). It’s described as more like steak than jerky and is hot smoked for intense flavor with notes of sweet garlic.
All totaled I came up with a value of $32.98 for the October 2015 Bojerky. It’s not a crazy value, but the curation is awesome and it lets you try a bunch of jerkies without paying individual shipping charges on each one.
