I had peeked (okay stalked until I located) spoilers for this box, but I didn’t know what variation I would receive on the main item until I opened my box.
Little Lace Box changed up their information card a bit with this box. It’s a booklet now which I like better. The October 2015 Little Lace Box theme was “Authentic Autumn, Your Style, Your Way” and included the following items that will help you transition into the next season, compliment your personal style and make you feel layered in luxurious products:
~Fall Pashmina (Stark White) ($32): Little Lace Box sent this out in Amethyst Orchid, Stark White, Cashmere Rose and Soft Cream. I am thrilled I received the white. I don’t necessarily think any of the colors they sent are fall-like (except maybe the cream), but the white is very versatile and can be used as a scarf, a blanket, something to sit on while on a hayride, etc. I would have been okay with the soft cream, but I was really hoping not to get the Cashmere Rose. I always keep something like this in my car for when the kids are cold, my legs are freezing, etc. And then you can wear it with whatever outfit you have on as well!
~OFRA Absolute Face Primer ($35): I actually received this in a Wantable box a while back and was a big fan. It really does help your makeup stay longer and gives you an almost flawless look. If you don’t wear makeup, you can wear it alone to help smooth out your skin (which is mainly what I do with it).
~OFRA Liquid Lipstick (Rio) ($19.99) and OFRA Eye Gel Primer ($19.50): Meh. I am not overly excited about these. Mainly because I feel like Little Lace Box is on OFRA overload lately (although I do like the face primer a lot) and also because the Rio color I received is just not good for me. At all. I would describe it as a coral pumpkin color. The eye primer is worn under shadow and prevents creases. It also helps your shadow stay in place for hours. It makes your eyes super smooth too which is cool.
~Travalo Skyline – Portable Fragrance Decanter (Silver) ($24): I don’t know that I would have paid $24 for this, but I am excited to fill it up and use it. I’ve always wondered how some of the fragrance subscription boxes decant fragrances and now I know (and can do it myself).
~Tea Forte MintTeas ($2.99) and Tea Forte Tea (Sample): I highly dislike tea, but I do like tea mints. I don’t know why, but they are better! I have to admit though, the packaging on this tea is awesome and it will make a cute little “go with” gift.
All totaled I came up with a value of $133.48 for the Little Lace Box. While I didn’t specifically dislike anything in the box (well except for the tea and the liquid lipstick that just wasn’t my color), I just wasn’t loving this box as a whole. It didn’t feel very Little Lace Box like and was heavy on OFRA products. I appreciate that LLB supports woman owned / founded businesses like OFRA, but I would have loved to see more of a mix of items. I am very much looking forward to the December Little Lace Box though. Here’s a bit of info on the December box:
From LLB:
“It’s only with the heart…”. We will be curating a box full of fabulous finds using this quote from one of our favorite books, The Little Prince. We don’t typically use spoilers (we try to hold out so everything is a surprise) but we’re so excited about this one that we wanted to let you in on at least a small part of what we have planned. We’re thrilled to announce we will feature a special product created by our friend and global lifestyle expert, Shalini Vadhera….More to come! XO LLB Team
What did you think of this month’s Little Lace Box? If you are interested in ordering you can head on over to their site and select the one-box option for $59.99 (does not renew without your permission). Or you can get a 3 or 6 box subscription and use the coupon code “RAMBLIN10” to save $10 off your first month!
I hated this box, the last three have been fails for me. This one was so overloaded on makeup, I sub to a bunch of boxes and already get tons of makeup. I don’t need more, I also got that exact Ofra primer in a Wantable box already. The pashmina is ok I guess, but again have one already and it just seems like it’s cheap. Someone pointed out that maybe LLB was sold? Because their FB is different, the website is a little different. This box was different and not like normal LLB boxes. Highly disappointing compared to last year’s awesome October box.
“Meh” is an understatement. I am really feeling ripped off by this subscription. I feel foolish for forking over so much money for the annual subscription. Maybe instead of throwing random pasta at the wall, hoping it will stick (ie serendipity), they should go back to their previous quality and variety. They must have run out of cash….either that or suppliers are not interested in being in their boxes.
I would love if they’d get back to including items from brands like Farm House Fresh!!
You and me both. I signed up for an annual subscription in June based on their previous boxes, but I’ve been disappointed with each of the ones I’ve received so far. They used to have such thoughtful curation, but now it seems like items are at best shoehorned into the themes (how exactly does makeup primer embody authenticity?). I feel like I spent that money poorly.
So this box was okay for me. My pashmina was a lavender, not a color that I wear, but one of my daughters scooped it up because it was soft and wore it with a dress. The primer is wonderful. I was surprised, I didnt expect to love it, I have not had any success with primers, but this one glides on my skin like magic. It holds up all day, I love it. And the decanter was pertty cool to me as well. I just bought a “pricey to me” perfume and I was thrilled to be able to carry it with me now.
I dont hate this box at all, I found some nice items that I love. But I am making cut backs on subscriptions, and this is one of them. I liked some of the past boxes, especially the Downton Abby box, I just adored. But the themes or contents do not suit me right now.
From LLB Twitter: “A primary focus for LLB is #womensupportingwomen. That is why we feature unique, hard-to-find products and…” It would be comical they described ORFA as unique and hard-to-find, except that I wasted my hard earned money on it. ?
Oops Ofra
I loved this box. I received the Santa Ana lip color and the white scarf. I have been very happy with the boxes I have received so far. All beautiful and useable items. I have found many new favorites and ordered some wonderful gifts after discovering items from the Little Lace Boxes. I missed out on the earlier boxes, but I am hooked on this sub. I have found the quality of the items and customer service to be one of the very best in the sub business. I am cancelling some of my 20 plus subs, but I am keeping this one.
Today I am setting here in front of the fire, enjoying my beautiful flower order from the last box (delivered today), sipping my cup of tea in my teapot/cup combo from an earlier box. Pure bliss relaxing at home on a foggy rainy wet day. Doesn’t get better than this.
I like your comment!
I was very pleased recently as well. I just set up my picture for the canvas from an earlier box. And I have my flowers on my table!!! Mine were delivered Saturday. There have been some lovely thoughtful items in the boxes that are unlike other subs. This particular box didnt fully suit me, but I have found some things I just LOVE from the boxes prior! it was a great run for me.
I received my box yesterday but didn’t get all the items. I received the pashmina, face primer, tea and decanter. I’ve been emailing LLB and even sent them messages on their FB page but I haven’t heard back. I’m getting frustrated now because it’s only fair that I should get ALL the items mentioned in the information card.
I haven’t heard of anyone having any trouble getting replacement items so I think you’ll end up getting everything. Let me know when you hear back!
I normally love LLB, but i was a little disappointed this month. The value was there; i just didn’t feel like the same thought went into curation this time. I personally don’t wear lipstick or eye makeup, so the lipstick went to my mum (she loves it), and the eye primer will be a great gift for my sister, so it’s not a loss. But part of what I love about this subscription is that it’s typically a little off the norm. I loved the coupon code for flowers and the kitchen box was amazing. A pashmina, makeup, and tea are things i can get in any box. Fingers crossed December brings them back to the previous good boxes.
The Pashmina value is highly inflated. They sell the same brand at a store near me and the more you buy the more you save, I have a few because they are soft, big and warm but they don’t cost that much!!!
I bought this box based on past review and boy I was left…..expecting more. Anyway, my travalo does not work. I have emailed and etc but no reply. Do they respond to emails at all?
Well, I finally got my box (it arrived the day after I went on vacation). I was really underwhelmed and set everything aside for awhile. Today I looked at everything again and I really will use every single one of these items (I got lucky on my liquid lipstick color), but I still feel underwhelmed.
On re-reading their note about the contents, I think they really believed that they had secured a batch of real pashmina scarves — meaning that they truly believed that the scarves they sent out are made from the finest grade of cashmere. If that had actually been the case, this would have been an amazing box — those kinds of scarves retail for well over $100. However, judging from the sheen and hand of the material, these are actually made of acrylic, which is why they are marked as “100% Pashmina” instead of “100% Cashmere.”
Oh, well. Despite the fact that I am underwhelmed, this box consistently delivers items that I will actually use so I will be keeping my subscription until they decide not to do it anymore. I have the sense that they take things very personally and I am wondering how much longer they will have the intestinal fortitude to continue. The drop in quality of curation leads me to believe they are already losing interest.
