Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription box for children from 0 to 5 years old which contains four or more products selected especially for the age and stage of your child. It’s $29/month, but the price decreases to $24.95 with a 6-month subscription. I receive a box for WB (boy) who turned 3 in April. I used to get a box which I had set for a 5 year-old boy, but I was getting a lot of duplicates so I ended up canceling the second subscription.
Before I go on, I do want to mention that Citrus Lane will be closing their doors in “early 2016”. You can read more about that here.
Citrus Lane ships via FedEx Smart Post and takes about a week to arrive. They ship on (or slightly before) the 15th of the month and I generally expect to receive my box by the 20th of the month.
I hadn’t peeked at any spoilers for this box, so the only item I knew I was getting was the one I selected during November customization time. Each month Citrus Lane allows subscribers to select one item for their boxes. They give you two or three options to pick from and you can select which works best for you. Sometimes the products are totally different and sometimes it’s just a matter or color or character.
The November 2015 Citrus Lane box included the following items:
~Oven Mitt from Handstand Kids (Stars and Planets) ($8): I am hoping to do lots of baking with the kids this holiday season so this will come in handy. I wouldn’t actually let WB remove something from the oven with it, but he can pretend he’s helping.
~New York City Coloring Book from Ammo Books ($9.95): OMG I love this! I hope WB doesn’t mind, but I am going to color a few pages of this myself. Some of the pages look like they would be extremely challenging for a 3 year-old so I think he’ll let me. I am actually surprised that we haven’t seen more coloring books in subscription boxes lately. Adult coloring books are all the rage and you’d think a box or two would have sent one out by now? This is just as good though!
~Food Cutter from Funbites (Blue) ($9.99): I believe our choices were a green Funbites or a blue one. I forget what the shape of the blue one was, but I liked these triangles better. I don’t know about anyone else’s kids, but when I cut their food up in cute shapes (like these) or present it in a fun way, more gets eaten. Funbites are sturdy and easy to use and better yet, easy to clean.
~Junior Granola Bar from 18 Rabbits (~$2): I don’t believe the 18 Rabbits brand has ever appeared in a Citrus Lane box? Or any other box for that matter. At least none that I know of. We received the “caramel apple” flavor which was super good. I want to try them all now.
~Subscriber Perk from Tiny Prints: The box included a unique coupon code for Tiny Prints. The code is valid for 30% off ALL orders or 40% off orders of $120+, plus free shipping. I wasn’t overly excited about this at first, but I realized I haven’t ordered my Christmas cards yet. Pretty sure they will be coming from Tiny Prints.
All totaled I came up with a value of $29.94 for the November 2015 Citrus Lane box. The value wasn’t huge (in fact it was a penny under the cost of the box), but I loved this month! Everything was great for us and I am thrilled with the coloring book!
