Yummy Bazaar is a monthly gourmet destination food club. Each month subscribers will receive 6-8 items all revolving around that month’s country theme. Also available is the monthly Sampler which is $9.95/month and includes 6-8 sample-size products from around the world. I received the Full Experience to review.
Yummy Bazaar ships between the 15th and 18th of every month for orders placed prior to the 15th. If you subscribe on 11/1, you will receive shipping notification email and tracking number between 11/15 and 11/18 for your November shipment. If you subscribe on 11/20, you will receive shipping notification email and tracking number between 12/15 and 12/18 for your December shipment.
Yummy Bazaar packs their boxes full! They include a lot of breakables in their boxes, but they are well protected.
In addition to information cards, the box also includes recipe cards to help which feature some of the items in the box.
The November 2015 Yummy Bazaar destination was “France” and included the following product assortment:
~Griottines Morello Cherries in Kirsch by Peureux ($2.95): These would be your fancy French version of a jar of cherries. Except that these are in Kirsch, which is a clear, colorless fruit brandy. No recipes for these were included, but I think they’d be great on ice-cream.
~French Almond Cake by Biscuiterie de Provence ($15.95): This cake was…interesting. I so was not expecting it to have a pop top on it! But I suspect that’s how it stays so fresh? Anyway, it (sort of) reminds me of rum cake that you get in the Caribbean. Sort of. It has a mainly almond favor and it’s really good!
~Crispy Brittany Crepes by Gavotte ($6.50): I tried these and then read the information card in search of some details on the flavor. I came up basically empty handed. I personally thought they had a caramel taste to them, but it doesn’t mention caramel anywhere in the description. It also doesn’t mention how messy these are! Seriously try to eat these in one bite or you’ll have crepe flakes all over the place.
~Milk Chocolate Bar with Salted Caramel Filling by Klaus ($4.75): Can you go wrong with a salted caramel filled chocolate bar? I don’t think so.
~French Mustard from Beaux by Pommery ($12.95): This mustard is described as “amazingly smooth and tasty”. I am going to take their word for it because I don’t enjoy mustard and usually try to avoid it. I do find it tolerable in potato salad and some dressings, so I might give the included “Creamy Lemon Mustard Dressing” recipe a try.
~French Black Rice from Camargue ($7.40): I haven’t made this rice yet, but I am very curious if I will be able to tell the difference between white / brown regular rice and this rice. The information card doesn’t give any details on the taste, but I will try and remember to update this when I try it.
~Epices Rabelais Spices by Provence Epice ($4.50): Oh goodness. The picture on the front of this! Poor piggy! Spices Rabelais is a delicate blend of finely ground herbs and spices. It’s suggested to season meat and poultry dishes, as well as pates, rillettes (similar to a pate but made from pork) and ready-made items.
~Chestnut Jam by Bonne Maman ($5.99): I SO thought this was caramel. I would have probably put money on it even. But it’s actually chestnut jam. I have to admit I was a little disappointed it wasn’t caramel. But this was good too. It just wasn’t caramel.
All totaled the November 2015 Yummy Bazaar had a value of about $60. It was an awesome assortment of items and the value was almost double the cost of the box!
