Birchbox Man is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.
Birchbox Man USPS (through Newgistics) and generally arrives during the first few days of the month or the last few days or the previous month. The January box actually arrived super early (probably because of the holidays) – I think I received it on the 22nd of December.
For the first time in quite a while, Birchbox Man didn’t offer a curated box option this month. They also only offered two Lifestyle choices this month – the Octovo Leather Valet Tray and the MIIR Classics Water Bottle (Blue 20oz). Neither really stood out to us so I didn’t make a selection and decided to just let them pick for us.
I could tell right away what Lifestyle Choice item I received.
The Birchbox Man information card is now totally digital and can be located in your account online. The January 2016 Birchbox Man theme was “Reboot” and included the following items:
~V76 by Vaughn Energy Wash Shower Gel (30mL / 1oz) ($2.50) plus V76 by Vaughn Energizing Shampoo & Conditioner (Samples): Our box item was the Energy Wash Shower Gel and we received the Shampoo & Conditioner as a bonus. It’s a great bonus because these are all reviewable – meaning we’ll get points in the Birchbox Shop! I liked the scent of this, but I don;t know if I found it to e energizing?
~Octovo Valet Tray ($60): I had no idea this was such an expensive item. Honestly I am not sure what makes it so expensive? It has chrome-tanned leather, felt lining, and steel snaps and really is good-looking, but it’s not something we would ever purchase on our own. B has a similar valley tray that he uses, but I’ll swap it out with this for him for winter.
~PRORASO Pre-Shave Cream (15mL) ($1.95): I actually don’t know that B ever uses a shave cream? I guess he might when he gets it in boxes, but that’s about it. He’s on this new kick where he only shaves before he has National Guard so it will be a while before he gets to test this.
~Lab Series Future Rescue Repair Serum (6mL) ($7.20): This serum “defends against environmental stressors, detoxes via the removal of dead cells, rebuilds the skin’s protective barrier, and repairs by promoting collagen production”. It didn’t seem to be oily and absorbed quickly. B hasn’t been using it long enough to see an actual difference, but it feels nice!
~Ursa Major Fortifying Face Balm (No Size Listed) (~$3): Face balm is actually a fancy name for a moisturizer. Not to thick, not too runny. It smells nice and is supposed to help with shine as well. B is a big fan of Ursa Major and loves seeing it in boxes!
All totaled I came up with a value of $74.65 for the January 2016 Birchbox Man box! Including the points for purchasing the box (20 points = $2) and the points for reviewing the products / sharing on Facebook (80 points = $8), the real value of this box is $84.65. The box had a crazy high value and might be the most valuable Birchbox Man box we have ever received, but it wasn’t my favorite. It was good and worth the $20, but not the best ever.
