Genuine Articles December 2015 Subscription Box

Genuine Articles is a quarterly subscription box supporting charities and celebrating the artistic/entrepreneurial spirit of North American Muslims.  Boxes include at least 5 items curated from the best makers and artists in North America.

The Box

Boxes are shipped via USPS Priority Mail on a quarterly basis in March, June, September, and December of each year.

First Look

The first look was more like a first smell.  I could tell right away that this box included coffee!!

The Information Card

The December 2015 Genuine Articles charity was “Muslimat Al Nisaa“, which is designed to address the issue of homelessness in the Muslim world.  The box included the following items:

~Aneeqi Naturals Sugar Cookie Body Butter ($7) & Chocolate Avocado Lip Hydrant ($2): This body butter is so thick and rich that it actually reminded me of sugar cookie dough!  This is made with whipped shea butter, coconut oil and essential aroma and let me tell you, a little of this goes a LONG way.  The chocolate avocado lip balm is equally fantastic.  It combines two of my favorite foods and kept my lips very hydrated.

~Mommylicious Crafts Customized “Stay Genuine Mug” ($25): I love mugs so this is easily my favorite item in the box.  All Mommylicious Crafts mugs are handmade and I am blown away by how perfect everything looks.  Making your own mug is a craft that I *think* would be easy and then I would start and realize yeah I can’t draw and even if I could I don’t know that my hand would be steady enough to do such intricate detail.

~Not So Urban Coffee & Roastery Ethiopia Sidama (Chocolate Cookie) Beans ($15.50): Not So Urban Coffee & Roastery is a small batch micro roaster located in New York City.  These beans wet processed from the Banko area in the Sidama region.  They smell absolutely incredible and I know that B will take these to work and share with his office.

~Siri2Siri Handmade Scarf ($10): The material on this scarf is a stretchy nylon which is different for a scarf.  At least for me anyway.  It’s very soft though and I do like that it’s not going to make you SO warm that you have to take it off during the day.

~With a Spin Crescent and Star Cookie Cutter (~$7.50): I did a little (google) research on this and the crescent and star it actually dates back to the flag of the Ottoman Empire (you can read about the history here if you want).  If you aren’t interested in making cookies with these, they are awesome for craft projects and fun for little hands to use as stencils.

All totaled I came up with a value of $67 for the December 2015 Genuine Articles box.  I was impressed with the value and I really enjoyed the selection of items this month!
