Two questions today…

1. Do you track your sleep? I have been wearing the Jawbone from the POPSUGAR + Target box for the last few nights and I am fascinated with the “sound sleep” vs. “light sleep”. My sleep seems to be split equally between light sleep and sound sleep. I’m not sure if that’s normal or not, but I imagine it’s better to get more sound sleep. If you are getting lots of “sound sleep”, what’s your secret? Do you have a bedtime routine of some sort that you follow?

2. What new (or new to you) subscription boxes are you trying this year? What boxes have you unsubscribed to recently? I am thinking of trying Luxor Box and maybe one of the sticker / planner boxes. In the past few months I have unsubscribed to Mantry (it seemed like we were getting repeat / similar items and we have enough of the crates), NewBeauty TestTube (they’ve been hit or miss for me lately), A Little Bundle (W was outgrowing it) and Mickey Monthly (the value just wasn’t there for me).  What about you?

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on these!

    1. I don’t track sleep. I also cancelled the Pop Sugar/Target box yesterday. It was in the processing status for 10 days yet they charged my card when it went on sale. What happened to not charging someone until the items ship?
    2. I no longer get FFF, BB or Pop Sugar.
I’m continuing Klover Box (because of the great after Thanksgiving sale).
I subscribed to Bark Box. We just got a puppy and it should be fun. They’ve already shipped the first box. I’m hoping it’s the January box so that we get the bus and hippy guy. LOL!

From what I read, the sleep tracker in the jawbone tracks your hand movements (and not heart rate) while asleep, so it’s not entirely accurate. I don’t usually wear it while sleeping though.

I’ve unsubscribed to everything except the Sephora box. I realized that I have way too many things lying around that I don’t use

    1. I don’t track sleep because I think it would be kind of depressing for me. I get up three times to breastfeed, and I’m a super light sleeper besides. I’m not sure I sleep at all! Lol.

    2. I’ve really only ever had BB, and I buy the target beauty boxes. I’m considering FFF or yogi surprise.

I am not tracking sleep with intent to use the info, but I am tracking it on the jawbone2. I dont know, mine is showing same, split between light and sound. It would appear that I move around quite a bit. Also it is tracking alot less steps than my apple watch. I think the apple watch is more accurate, since it matches up with the data from my treadmill which has a built in step counter. I sleep better on a 3″ foam mattress topper which my husband and I have very differing views on right now. even tho my bed is nice quality, the topper adds extra comfort for me.
I am trying out the Good Being box. And I shaved my box list down to Popsugar, Box of Style, Boxycharm (still has great value), Goddess Provisions (awesome box), Yogi Surprise and Sapphire Soul. Ive recently cut back everything else.

Xanax helps me get to sound sleep, lol. I’ve also found that when I am working out regularly I sleep much better.

    There are sticker/planner sub boxes?

My husband asked me to sign him up for a clothing subscription since he hates shopping. Which do you recommend?

I don’t track my sleep, but I’ve thought about it. I sleep like a pro. Growing up, my mom says she had to constantly check to make sure I wasn’t actually dead because when I’m asleep, nothing can wake me. If there were a job that consisted of sleeping, I’m pretty sure I’d be the best. I don’t know if I have any tricks, I just make sure I go to bed early enough to get at least 8 hours. My bed is really comfy too, the mattress is average but there’s a super thick, dense memory foam pad on it and a pillow top on top of that. I try not to have caffiene after noon.

I’ve been on the fence about subscribing to LootCrate so when they had their Mystery Crate sale, I ordered 2. Their website said that they’d try their hardest to avoid duplicates.. but I got the exact box twice. And now they have options to buy previous crates, so it’s not like that’s all that was left. And many other people got the exact box, some ordered as many as 5 crates with the same result. So I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be subscribing.

I might quit birchbox when my annual subscription is up but I haven’t decided.

    1. I don’t use a fitness tracker, but I think I get pretty sound sleep most nights. My husband on the other hand is generally the reason I wake because he is a horrible sleeper. I always feel bad that whenever he is away for work I sleep all through the night without waking haha.
    2. Currently, I get birchbox, and popsugar (which I need to renew for February) I also get a honest co. Diaper bundle every 6 weeks. And my husband gets Loot crate. I would love to try one of the stationery boxes or maybe mission cute this year. Serendipity by LLB looked awesome the last few times so that’s also on my radar 😉

I am tracking my sleep with the Jawbone also. I have Fibromyalgia and sleep terrible. I am trying to crack the code to my sleep patterns in the hope that I will find some solution.

I subscribe to Loot Crate which I love, birchbox and Pop Sugar.I always grab the Target beauty boxes because they are a terrific value and always get used. I have done both Ispy and Julep but neither was a win for me.

1- as far as sleep goes…it’s very normal to move in and out of light and deep sleep phases. In fact, deep sleep phases are often shorter, so if you’re getting 50/50 and you feel rested, then you’re probably good.

I used to track my sleep, but at the time I wasn’t getting good sleep anyway due to drinking, stress at work, and odd schedules. It was more anxiety producing for me to track, so I stopped. I now have a pretty set schedule where I go to bed by 9pm and I’m up around 5am most days. “sleeping in” is until 6:30…which is annoying, but reasonable.

2- right now I’m not trying any new subs. I’m trying to buy a house and need to save for the down payment, so I’m cutting back. I’ve cancelled all but one sub (rainbow honey)

I use essential oils. Works great.

  12. Kelly

2 birchboxes, popsugar, I tried a quarter of gramr Grammer with popsugar coupon, plated occassionally, and I am going to receive happy mail for 2016. Excited about that.

  13. Amber

Sind, you mentioned the Sephora box. I haven’t heard a word about it since August. Do you actually have a subscription? Has anyone else received a box? I think everyone signed up and was wait listed.

    Do tell 🙂

  14. mary m

As soon as I get that box, I’ll start tracking. Supposed to be delievered by tomorrow I think.

Currently we’re only getting a doodle crate, koala crate, loot crate, smugglers bounty, and a tsum tsum box. That’s for 5 of us. LOL so it’s not very many.

  15. Chelsea

I don’t track my sleep as I already know I get terrible sleep.

Boxes: I totally cut down my boxes…now I just get: Julep (i often skip), Beauty Army (skip almost all the time), Wantable Accessories (am skipping the next month or so), gwynnie bee and Popsugar.

I had a hankering for Korean beauty products so I bought a Memebox…I always love their stuff.

I went from getting about 8 different subscriptions per month to just a handful (if not less). Last year I calculated I tried 20 different subscriptions.

I miss having a snack subscription so I might restart universal yums or i might try something different.

I got the jawbone with my popsugar target box also and am fascinated by it. I have been trying to lose weight, and have not been as successful as I would like, and am trying to look at things beyond the obvious…sleep being one of them. I do not regularly get enough sleep, and I know that…I have been trying to go to bed earlier, but then just end up waking up earlier..which is frustrating. I have been wearing the jawbone for the last two days and I was shocked at my results, but it probably explains some things to me. My first night I slept 5hrs 38 minutes 1 hour and 56 minutes was deep sleep and 3 hours 41 minutes were light sleep. Last night I slept 6 hours and 43 minutes of sleep and 2 hours and 37 minutes were sound sleep, and 4 hours and 5 minutes were light sleep. I am only sleeping roughly 1/3 of sleep in sound sleep….my next plan is to try some different things to see if they affect that bottom line…..I am hoping if I can improve the quality of my rest…then the rest of me will feel better and more active during the day :o)

Report back and let me know how they work! I am noticing I don’t sleep as well on the weekends? I don’t know why that is or if it was maybe just getting used to my husband being back in town of what?
