Birchbox Man March 2016 Subscription Box Review - "Stock-In-Trade" + Coupon Code

Birchbox Man (as pictured here) is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.  They have also just launched Birchbox Man Beta! It’s $10/month and contains four deluxe samples from a single grooming category, like shave cream, cologne, moisturizer, etc. These categories are selected according to the online profile you fill out at the start of your membership.  It sounds like if you are already signed for up the Lifestyle Box (which I am) you will continue to receive that box.  If you new to Birchbox, you can opt for the new Birchbox Man Beta or you can e-mail them (beta@birchbox.com) to get subscribed to the original Lifestyle Box.

Birchbox Man ships via USPS (through Newgistics) and generally arrives during the first few days of the month or the last few days or the previous month.

The Birchbox Man information card is now totally digital and can be located in your account online. The March 2016 Birchbox Man theme was “Stock-In-Trade” and included the following items:

~PLANT Body Wash (1oz / 30mL) ($2.11): B liked this Body Wash well enough and thought it smelled nice, but I think the coolest thing about it is the company itself.  The product is made using just eight natural ingredients—including olive oil, aloe vera, and aromatic essential oils—and is free of parabens, silicones, and other mystery chemicals.  In addition, it’s made in a Brooklyn workshop that employs adults with mental and physical disabilities. Pretty neat!

~J Lab Audio Custom Fit Earbuds with Mic ($20): This was our lifestyle item this month. Choices were J. Lab Audio Custom Fit Earbuds ($20), Tommy John Performance Sock Duo ($24), Quirky Contort Power ($24.80) or a Cotopaxi Dopp Kit.  I had intended to opt for the Quirky Contort, but it was sold out by the time I made my choice.  I didn’t end up selecting a sample so these were selected for me.  If there is one thing we get a lot of in subscription boxes it’s headphones. I will be passing these along to my Dad.

~Cartier Pasha Edition Noire Sport Eau de Toilette Spray (Sample Vial) (~$2): This fragrance features “watery, citrus top notes and marine middle notes atop the same familiar woodsy base of amber, sandalwood, and cedar”. It’s nice without being overpowering and would be a perfect everyday scent in my option.  Fragrance samples (in general) aren’t my favorite, but I do love when they come with a sprayer (like this one does). They are much easier to use then the other ones with an open top.

~Baxter of California Deodorant (1.2oz) ($8.60): This deodorant is aluminum-free and is designed for sensitive skin. The smell is a “citrus and herb-musk” and isn’t the least bit overpowering.  It’s cold here so I am not sure how it will do on a hot summer day, but so far B likes it.

~Billy Jealousy Shaved Ice Aftershave Balm (0.5oz) ($4.17): This is one item in the box that B hasn’t tried yet.  He likes to grow his facial hair in between National Guard weekends, so he doesn’t have a need for this right now.  It’s designed to heal, hydrate, and soothe and did feel very soft when I tested it on my own skin.
All totaled I came up with a value of $36.88 for the March 2016 for the March 2016 Birchbox Man box. Including the points for purchasing the box (20 points = $2) and the points for reviewing the products / sharing on Facebook (50 points = $5), the real value of this box is $43.88.  The value was there, but this wasn’t our favorite Birchbox Man box.  Although, that is mainly my fault because I didn’t pick the Lifestyle item we wanted in time.

What do you think about Birchbox Man? How do you feel about the new Beta subscription?  Are you planning on giving it a try or do you think you will stick with the Original Lifestyle subscription?

Spread the love
