Shtrands February 2016 Subscription Box Review

Shtrands is an online platform that recommends and delivers every 2 months customized high quality hair care regimens, based on a subscription model. Each box will include a combination 4 full size products among cleansing, conditioning treatment and styling products. You can opt to receive the same regimen with each shipment or you can request a new personalized regimen.

Shtrands ships via USPS Priority Mail.

Shtrands boxes are fully customized, so there is no standard information card.  Instead my card was handwritten with instrutions on how to use all of products included.  For reference I have straight, dry, color-treated hair, that’s prone to split ends.

My February 2016 Shtrands included the following:

~The Pouch: I didn’t realize it, but Shtrands packages your treatment in a cute reusable pouch!

~Joico Color Brown Infuse Shampoo ($15.99) & Conditioner ($17.99): These items were selected for me because I mentioned dry hair and color fading as some of my concerns.  Which they are. This shampoo is designed to protect against fading and delivers root to tip repairs.  The shampoo is meant to be used every other day until you achieve the “perfect tone” and then as needed to maintain color.  I loved these!  I have used color enhancing after conditioner products, but never in a shampoo / conditioner duo.  I do feel like my color is lasting longer and my hair is shiny and soft.  I don’t think they could have picked better for me.

~Head Room Productions Thermal Hair Glaze ($18): I have only used this a few times so far, but that is because you need to use heat with it.  It’s to be applied to damp towel dried hair and then blow-dry for a sleek smooth look.  I have a big problem with fly-aways so this was very helpful. I try to avoid heat styling because I feel like it dries my hair out even more than it already is, but I didn’t find this to be drying at all.
~Wella Brilliance Treatment for Colored Hair ($13.90): This mask is to be applied once a month or every other week after shampooing.  They suggested putting a plastic shower cap on (I wish they would have included one in the box as I don’t own one) and then leaving on for 5-20 minutes before rinsing with cool water. I have used it once and think I may have used too much because it took me a long time to rinse out. I did feel like my hair as more manageable after and in the week following though.  It seemed like it was a lot easier to comb through when it was wet.

All totaled I came up with a value of $65.88 for the February 2016 Shtrands box.  It wasn’t a huge value, but I like that it was customized just for me.
