Bramble Box provides creative play kits containing dramatic play materials and activities. Educational and fun, Bramble Boxes promote free play. Every box contains all the materials you need and a little inspiration – all you have to add is imagination. Boxes are designed for children age 3 – 8, but could be enjoyed by a variety of ages of children over age 3. Since the activities are open ended, kids can use them in a way that best suits their play level.
Bramble Box ships via USPS and took just a few days to arrive. If you sign up before midnight on the 4th of the month, they will ship your first crate by the 15th of that month. Otherwise your first box will ship the following month.
The theme of this one was easy to guess.
The April 2016 Bramble Box theme was “Marching Band” and included the following items:
~The Hat: This hat was more of a mom project than a kid project. There is no way my 4 year-old (W) could have done this alone. I had trouble with it! The paper was pretty curled up from it being rolled up in the box so it was difficult to cut out / put together. I eventually got it, but it’s not going to win any craft awards ;). It reminds me of the hat Major Magic mascot used to wear. Did anyone have a Major Magic’s by them? It was like Chuck E Cheese.
~The Drum: Totally our favorite project in the box. W decorated the drum base while I got everything attached. I think he hoped it would be louder, but I was happy with the way it was. We experimented our hands, wooden spoons, metal spoons, etc. to see what sound we liked best.
~Tambourine and Maracha: The kit indicated that these could be decorated if you wanted to, but we opted not to. I figured we’d end up painting it and then wouldn’t be able to play with them right away because they would have had to dry.
~Jungle Stick: W did most of this, but I helped a little. Mainly just to show him what to do next. He was thrilled with the results and liking shaking it slowly and then faster to hear the different sounds the bells made.
~The Ants Go Marching: This book is about marching ants, specifically one little ant who gets distracted. There’s a lot of counting opportunities in this book too!
