International Blessings, who kindly sent me this Box of Blessings to review, states that their mission is to empower 3rd world artisans by selling and promoting their handmade products, which then helps to create sustainable livelihoods and eliminate poverty around the world. Each Box of Blessings will have 3-4 pieces of jewelry or other handcrafted products made by impoverished people around the world.
Box of Blessings ships via USPS during the first week of the month and is only available to those in the US.
Box of Blessings boxes are about the same size as a Birchbox – maybe smaller?
The April 2016 Box of Blessings included the following items:
~Fishscale Earrings (Sanyork) ($12): These are obviously the most interesting earrings I own. Fish scales. They are made out of fish scales. They are dyed to make them the super vibrant colors and are very delicate. One of my scale pieces actually cracked off in shipping, but you can’t tell too much so I don’t mind.
~ Jungle Twist Bracelet (Minga) ($12): This stretchy bracelet is made out of dyed seeds and coco discs. I love the colors and think it’s a fun summer bracelet.
~Manta Headband (Sanyork) ($3.99): I don’t think I will wear this as part of an outfit, but I will wear it to hold my hair back while I am washing my face at night. It’s not too tight and I like how thick it is.
All totaled I came up with a value of $27.99 for the April 2016 Box of Blessings. While I liked the contents of this box, I expected the value to be higher. I, at least, would like to see it equal the cost of the box.
