Allure Beauty Box May 2016 Subscription Box Review
The Allure Beauty Box includes five or more deluxe-sized beauty products every month. Boxes are curated by the editors of Allure magazine and include a special-edition “mini magazine” chock full of the most trusted product reviews you’ve come to expect from Allure.

My May Allure Beauty Box shipped via USPS. My April box shipped super late and this one shipped super early, so you just never know.

I have been hearing that some subscribers who subscribed after seeing the spoilers for this May box have learned that their subscriptions will actually be starting in June (and not May).  I have been a monthly subsciber since they switched over to Allure (from BeautyBar) so I didn’t have this issue, but let me know if this happened to you.

The May 2016 Allure Beauty Box theme was “Hot Summer” and included the following items:

~Foreo LUNA Play ($39): I actually own the full-sized LUNA so I was curious to see how this compared. From what I can tell it’s exactly the same, but smaller.  It’s gentle enough to use daily and has an internal battery that vibrates to help “remove gunk”.  It’s got enough “juice” for 100 uses and then it’s time to toss.  I wish there was a way to change the battery because it seems like an expensive item to have to toss after about 2-3 months (depending on how often you use it).  Still, I am happy to have it and plan to use it for traveling.  I love the way it makes my skin look and feel.

~Foreo Day Cleanser (15mL) ($4.50) and Foreo Night Cleanser (15mL) ($4.50): The “Day” Cleanser is a gentle face wash that cleanses without leaving skin tight and dry.  The “Night” Cleanser is a deep-cleaning face wash that cleanses skin and removes makeup.  The day one (it has a little citrus scent to it) is a smooth cleanser while the night one has little scrubbies in it.  I liked the night one better than the day (it just made my skin feel cleaner), but both seemed to do the job.

~Equitance Brightening Serum + Spot Corrector (7g) ($29.17): This serum “minimizes the appearance of spots caused by acne, hormonal changes and sun exposure”.  I have some dark spots I’d love to get rid of, so we’ll see how this spot treatment works.  According to the information booklet some people can see results in less than a month.

~Cotz Flawless Complexion SPF 50 (5g) ($1.44): This is a tinted noncomedogenic mineral sunscreen.  It’s thinner than a BB cream which I really like! It’s also not greasy and soaked into my skin quickly.

~Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick in Rose Naturelle (1g) (~$4): I estimated the size on this one and guessed that it was about 1/3 of a full-size.  The color is described as “tawny-pink” and I’m just so-so on it.  I’m not really into lipstick as it is, but this just wans’t a color I loved.  I did like the formula though.

~Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara ($13.71): I have mentioned it before, but I am on complete mascara overload here so I have been passing my mascaras on to friends. This has an interesting candy corn shaped brush that is meant to target the small inner-corner lashes.

~Lauren B. Nail Polish in Santa Barbara Surf (Full-Size) ($18): This polish is a “glossy green-blue” that’s free of formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin and camphor.  It’s so pretty for the season and this is going on my nails this weekend.

All totaled the May 2016 Allure Beauty Box had a value of $114.32.  That is a HUGE value for a $15 box and I am thrilled with it!
