Birchbox Man May 2016 Subscription Box Review - "Time to Shine" + Coupon Code

Birchbox Man (as pictured here) is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between.  They have also just launched Birchbox Man Beta! It’s $10/month and contains four deluxe samples from a single grooming category, like shave cream, cologne, moisturizer, etc. These categories are selected according to the online profile you fill out at the start of your membership.  It sounds like if you are already signed for up the Lifestyle Box (which I am) you will continue to receive that box.  If you new to Birchbox, you can opt for the new Birchbox Man Beta or you can e-mail them (beta@birchbox.com) to get subscribed to the original Lifestyle Box. For some reason I can’t find any information about the new $10 Birchbox Man box on their site right now.  I will keep you posted if that changes.

Birchbox Man ships via USPS (through Newgistics) and generally arrives during the first few days of the month or the last few days or the previous month.

My husband has been getting Birchbox Man for ages and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.  Their point system is one of my favorites of all the subscription boxes.

This box was packed full! Birchbox Man previously offered a curated box option, but that is no longer the case.  I loved having the choice between a curated box (where the items were revealed in advance) and the traditional Birchbox Man box, so I do hope they bring this back.

The May 2016 Birchbox Man theme was “Time to Shine” and included the following”

~Baladeo Battery Charger S2200 ($18): This month’s Lifestyle Choice selections were an ICNY Twill Ball Cap, a Baladeo Power Bank S2200 or Related Garments Boxer Brief + Sock Set.  I opted for the Power Bank.  We have a few, but whenever I need one it’s not charged, so another will be nice.  It’s lightweight and will easily fit in a pocket (my husband) or purse (me).

~MCMC Fragrances Hunter Eau de Parfum (~$2): This is described as “woodsy and sweet” with notes of  tobacco, balsam fir and a touch of bourbon vanilla.  It’s completely gorgeous and I love it.  It amazing on B.

~Baxter of California Herbal Mint Toner (30mL / 1fl.oz) ($1.80): I am not sure that B is as excited and as into toners as I am, but hopefully this helps him realize how amazing they are.  This is supposed to remove “excess oil and dirt left behind by your cleanser, balances your skin’s pH, and protects against environmental damage without drying your face out”.  To me toners make your skin feel “extra clean”. That’s the best way I can describe it.

~Anthony Shave Cream (30mL / 1fl.oz.) ($3.08): B’s been rocking a beard for a little over a month now, but that’s all coming to an end this weekend (he has National Guard and will have to shave).  The instructions say a little of this goes a long way and that it helps to give a smooth, close shave.

~Kiehls Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash (1 fl.oz / 30mL) ($2.62): B actually used to buy this stuff all the time (before subscription boxes came along) so this is fabulous.  He does a ton of traveling so this is a great size for him to take with him.

All totaled I came up with a value of $27.50 for the May 2016 Birchbox Man. Including the points for purchasing the box (20 points = $2) and the points for reviewing the products / sharing on Facebook (60 points = $6), the real value of this box is $35.50.  That wasn’t a great value for this box, but I am happy with it and I still wish that Birchbox Woman offered a Lifestyle Item!
