This box was heavy and packed full!
The May 2016 GlobeIn Artisan Box theme was “Hydrate” and was a partnership with Water.org. The box included the following items:
~Hand Blown Glass Vessel, Mexico ($15): This is gorgeous! It’s hand blown and was made in Mexico by the Cristaluc organization which was established in 2001 and employee 40 artisans. They provide them with a steady income and a supportive and inspiring workplace. This is now probably the most gorgeous vase I own. I cannot wait to get some flowers in here! It’s heavy and just beautiful.
~Trashy Bags Upcycled Tote, Ghana ($15): This bag is made out of discarded plastic trash. Artisans clean and stitch plastic trash in the form of sachets that have been previously used to contain drinking water and other drinks, into fashionable and useful bags and other products. It’s about the size of a brown paper grocery bag, but much more eco-friendly. It folds up very easily and is very sturdy. It stands up on it’s own too which I love.
~Conscious Coconut Oil, Thailand ($15): Conscious Coconut Oil is 100% USDA Organic, Fair Trade Certified™ and is made out of Virgin, Cold-Pressed Coconut. I am a fan of coconut oil for super dry skin and as a conditioner, but I am not a huge fan of scooping it out of the jar. This solves that! You can use it as a moisturizer, hair conditioner, shaving cream, sun protection, itch relief, treatment of scars and infections, pulling, makeup removal, etc. Not only is it a great product, but Conscious Coconut also donates once meal to a child with each purchase and employs and empowers developmentally disabled adults to package the product. They also prepay their farmers to ensure that their basic needs are met.
~Zambeezi Lip Balm, Zambia ($3): This lip balm is fabulous (it goes on smoothly and is moisturizing) and Zambeezi ensures that the workers who make their product are paid a fair and living wage.
~Brass Bottle Stopper, South Africa ($10): Subscribers this month and the option to select between a Brass Bottle Stopper or a (blue) Palm Leaf Basket. I received the stopper and I am very happy with it! Roots, the company who makes these, is committed to paying their artisans fairly and on-time and work to develop long-term relationships with them. The craftsmanship and design is beautiful!
All totaled I came up with value of $58 for the May 2016 GlobeIn Artisan Box. I loved every single item in this box and couldn’t be happier with it. They did a great job with the curation.
