bluum July 2016 Subscription Box Review + Coupon Code

bluum, is a monthly box of goodies for moms and babies.  Products are hand-selected based on your child’s age (from pregnancy to preschool), gender and developmental stage.  They now have an option that allows you to select the items you wish to receive in your boxes which I think is awesome. You don’t have to pick, but the option is there if you’d like to. I have gotten bluum for years and while the boxes have had their ups and downs I have generally been pretty pleased with them and have stuck with my subscription (which is for my 4 year-old son – aka W).

bluum ships via FedEx Smart Post and generally takes about a week to arrive.  I typically plan on receiving it during the second half of the month. This month’s box arrived later than normal and while they sent out an e-mail about the delay, it didn’t really explain a reason. No matter, it’s here now.

I don’t recall selecting these items, but this box looked pretty good to me.

My July 2016 bluum box, for a 4-year-old boy, included the following items:

~Dandelion 2 Spill Proof Cups ($7.99): These BPA-free cups are made in the USA from recycled milk jugs.  I don’t know where they go, but we are always in need of kids cups around here.  These are supposed to be spill-proof, but I suspect my kids will still be able to spill it ;).

~Faber-Castell Colored EcoPencils ($4.95): Colored pencils are on my 3rd grader’s school supply list, so that’s one item we have checked off now.  They are made from re-forested wood and are supposed to be break-resistant.

~Dreft Laundry Stain Remover ($1.99): I just received this in June 2016 from bluum so this is a repeat item for me.  It works fine, but I’m not thrilled with getting two of the same items in back to back months, so I am going to shoot them over an e-mail.  I will let you know if / when I hear back.

All totaled my July 2016 bluum had a value of $21.92.  The products were fine, but that is just such a low-value box.  My box last month had an even lower value.  Hopefully the values improve or I can’t justify keeping this subscription.

Wow that’s a pretty disappointing value for a box! MSA got a review box and the value was only like $36 and it “flagged” in the system as low value and they gave her an extra item. I didn’t get any of my July picks, which I’m pretty mad about. I even got an email saying one item wasn’t available and to pick a new item, ok, I picked a swaddle blanket. I didn’t get it either, instead I got 3 really low value items and a rubber whale bath toy that’s supposed to be worth $16. I complained to customer service that I didn’t get any of my original picks, or my replacement picks and they said they would add an extra month to my sub, so we’ll see.

I don’t know what’s happened to Bluum. It used to be a good subscription box but now I feel as though it’s just not worth it. I don’t plan on renewing my subscription when it ends in a couple of months. I miss Citrus Lane! My children are preschool aged and I’d love to find a good box for them. Any suggestions?
