GlobeIn Limited Edition Jewelry Box Review

GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring GlobeIn’s favorite products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by their editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures.  This review is on their limited edition GlobeIn Limited Edition Jewelry Box.  It’s a separate purchase from their monthly subscription and is $50 for subscribers or $70 for non-subscribers.

From GlobeIn:
Dear Ladies,

Adorn yourself. You needn’t wait for a special occasion to frame the lovely body that is yours with some bling. The delicate yet funky, regal yet spare pieces waiting in this special box are simple enough for a daily accent, august enough to say, I honor myself, I am an expression of beauty in the world.

We created your jewelry box in collaboration with Tribe Alive, a social fashion business founded on the belief that there is nothing more fashionable than giving back. Tribe Alive partners with artisan collectives around the world, providing them a vital connection to the global marketplace, while offering training and support.

Your new charms, made specially for this collection, amplify the profound growth their partnership has already generated with Mi Esperanza in Honduras and Maya Traditions in Guatemala. Because fashion is meant to make a statement. And these pieces truly do.

Sincerely,
Genna

The GlobeIn Limited Edition Jewelry Box included the following items:

~Notch Ring (Honduras): This ring was made by one of Mi Esperanza’s most high-level jewelry-makers, Sulema. According to the information card, just a year ago Sulema was an unemployed seamstress who had never cut a metal in her life.  But with the help of Tribe Alive (a social fashion business created on the belief that there is nothing more fashionable than giving back) she has learned a new skill and is able to enroll her children in a first-rate school where they are learning english.  The ring itself is adjustable, but I recommend opening it slowly so you don’t end up cracking it.

~Crescent Stud Earrings (Honduras): These earrings were also made by Mi Esperanza (via an alliance with Tribe Alive).  The same artist who crafted the ring above also made these beautiful studs.  I love the shape and the brushed brass look.

~Token Pendant Necklace (Honduras): This necklace was made by Denia, who is a full-time Mi Esperanza artisan in Santa Ana.  I like this piece as is, but I can’t help thinking about how gorgeous it would be engraved.  Maybe as a graduation gift or for a new mom?

~Wave Cuff (Honduras): This cuff was made by Eugenia at Mi Esperanza who is a single mother and sole provider to her children.  She used the money from her first job to purchase a computer for her daughter at school and then, after a subsequent Tribe Alive job, she began to build her own house.  The bracelet is thin and bendable, but this is another piece I would open slowly as it is delicate.

~Woven Pouch (Guatemala): This pouch was hand-woven and is designed to help you store your brass jewelry in a dry, sealed place.  There are a variety of patterns and colors included in boxes, but they all look gorgeous.

~Palm Leaf Pouch (Mexico):  I think this is my favorite of all the palm leaf pouches sent by GlobeIn!  It’s the same material as the baskets they send in their monthly boxes, but in pouch form.  Again there was a variety of colors sent out, but I love this purple one I received.
