Mostess is a membership service that helps you host beautiful gatherings in your home by sending curated party items and ideas straight to your door. Every other month Mostess sends a box directly to your doorstep. Each box contains 4-6 handpicked and perfectly coordinated items that you can use to host a gathering in your home. Items could include cocktail ingredients, decorative items, snacks, stationery, and more.
Mostess ships via UPS on a bi-monthly basis. Mostess arrived in a larger plain brown cardboard box with this gorgeous box inside.
Mostess has the most gorgeous packaging. You can tell that they take a great deal of time and care into making the experience of unboxing a special one.
Mostess reveals box contents in advance, which actually made me even more excited for this one.
Mostess includes a beautiful information booklet with lots of details on the products to help you get the most out of your box experience. The Summer 2016 Mostess included the following items:
~Mostess Signature Summer Table Runner (~$20): This is a Mostess exclusive, so I am not 100% sure on how to value it. It’s 100% cotton, hand woven and while the information card makes it look navy and white, I think mine is black and white. Once I take the leaf out of my kitchen table (which has been in for far too long) this is going on!
~The Pineapple Co. Pineapple Shot Glasses ($35): Once I saw that these were in the box I knew I had to get it! I have the matching pineapple cocktail glasses from a Bespoke Post box, and these will compliment them perfectly. I don’t take a ton of shots these days, but these can also be used to store your drink picks on your bar cart, used as a measuring tool for making cocktails or just as a decoration. I think I will do a combination of the three.
~Blank Slate Kitchen Palm Sugar Simple Syrup ($13.99): This syrup is vegan and gluten-free and can be used as a mixer in drinks or as a substitute for traditional sweeteners in your coffee, tea or even in baking. The hostess cards have a recipe for “The Palm Mojito” (palm sugar syrup, light rum, fresh lime juice, mint leaves and a splash of sparkling water or club soda) which sounds like an ideal summer cocktail.
~Old Kentucky Home Acacia Wood Muddler ($9.99): This muddler was handcrafted from Beechwood and designed in Seattle, WA. It’s perfect for making drinks or making guacamole. It even comes with a special cloth bag for storage.
~Jacobsen Salt Co. Guacamole Seasoning ($9): I didn’t even know this existed! You muddle this with avocados and a squeeze of lime. Super easy and amazing for last minute get-togethers. The included hosting cards suggest trying it on toast or with plantain chips in addition to just tortilla chips. I know what I am making this weekend!
~Patio Party Flamingo Plates (Set of 4) ($60): These plates are by Rosanna, a brand who has appeared in a few subscription boxes with their gorgeous pieces over the years. I love these plates. They are designed for appetizers or sharing snacks. Or even better, as dessert plates. They can’t be used in the microwave (the gold will spark), and handwashing is recommended. That’s okay with me though because these are worth it.
~SunnyLife Flamingo Forks Set (24Ct.) ($7): These are adorable! Instead of utensils, you can let guests “pick” their fruit or apps with these. Or you can use them to add fruit or garnish to your summer cocktail.
~Hostess Cards: The box includes recipes cards and some hostess tips on using everything in the box.
All totaled I came up with a value of about $154.98 for the Summer Mostess box. The value isn’t huge, but this box feels so special, and the curation is amazing. I do wish the summer box would have been released at the beginning of June though so we could enjoy these goodies all summer long.
