~Good morning! B had National Guard this weekend, so he wasn’t around Saturday, but yesterday was family day! They had a bbq on base, so we went there and hung out all day. I must say, The National Guard has one of the best bounce house obstacle courses ever. The kids loved it!
~Lots of subscription boxes should be coming this week including my POPSUGAR Must Have Mini & POPSUGAR Fall Limited Edition boxes, Beautycon BFF, BarkPotty, Love With Food, Birchbox, Gentleman’s Box, Bokksu, Beauty Box 5 and a handful of others. I can see my Fall FabFitFun in FedEx tracking, but there is no movement on it yet. Hopefully soon.
~Does anyone have an amazing recipe for banana bread or should I just stick with this one on allrecipes.com? B has requested a non-healthy version (i.e. he wants butter and eggs in it) so I can’t look on Skinnytaste (which I love).
~That’s it from here! Have a great week!
yes. i make this one: http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/banana_bread/
and i always use oil and white sugar. for years i futzed around with fancy recipes and it turns out that oil makes the best bread. and using a ridiculous amount of bananas.
Rachael Ray’s banana bread recipe is my go to. Maybe because it has chocolate chips in it.

I second this Rachel Ray recipe, but I use 1/4 cup butter in place of vegetable oil because…butter 🙂
I use that allrecipes banana bread recipe that you linked and I love it! It is a dense heavy bread, but so yummy! Be careful not or over bake it because it dries out a lot if you do. I will sometimes sprinkle mini chocolate chips in it too!
That is my banana bread recipe! I mean, it is the one I make. It is SO GOOD!!! I always suggest that one when people are looking for a banana bread.
I use the banana bread recipe from my old Betty Crocker cookbook. The guys at Dad’s work always loved it! Since I don’t know how to link it, I sent you a text.?

I use that recipe and my husband loves it! I cut it into slices and put it in the fridge and he takes it all week for breakfast at work. I also add chocolate chips to the recipe instead of the nuts, so good!!!
I use Paula Deen’s banana bread recipe. You can’t get more “unhealthy” with Paula- she loves butter 🙂 And its super easy, doesn’t even require a mixer!
The Betty Crocker recipe is the best. Although I think the raw dough is even better than the baked bread!
My recipe that I have been using for the last 14 1/2 years…found it as a newlywed and it’s been my go to ever since… Original recipe called for shortening but I replaced it with butter and also added cinnamon:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1/3 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon table salt
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup buttermilk
Cream together the butter, vanilla and sugar. Add eggs and beat completely. Stir in cinnamon, baking soda, salt and 1 cup of the flour with half the mashed bananas and half the butter milk. Mix until combined. Then add the remaining flour, bananas & buttermilk. Mix until smooth. Stir in nuts.
Pour into two greased bread pans and bake at 350 degrees for 50 – 60 minutes. ( I prefer to use a mini loaf pan with cuts the cooking time down to about 15-20 mins)
….If I make banana CAKE then I use the “Surprise Banana Cake” recipe from all recipes…. and add a Nutella frosting to it… mmmm 🙂
