BOXWALLA Food Box October 2016 Subscription Box Review

Boxwalla Food Box ships bi-monthly via USPS. Boxwalla boxes are made in India from tree-free handmade paper. The boxes are made out of cotton scraps, using the traditional art of paper-making that involves nine steps and takes several weeks. The handmade paper is then meticulously fashioned into the boxes that the goodies get shipped in.

The October 2016 Boxwalla Food Box theme was “Sweet Autumn Surprise” and included the following items:

~Feve Chocolate Covered Carmelized Hazelnuts ($8) & Chai Spice Almonds ($8): I don’t think just trying these alone did them justice.  I think we should have paired them with wine, cheese, and fruit!  I mean they were good alone (and very flavorful) but would have been better with some offsetting flavors.  The Chocolate Covered Carmelized Hazelnuts were my favourite (because chocolate), but the Chai Spice ones seemed a little more “in season.”

~Ethereal Confections Handcrafted Inclusion Chocolate Bars ($15): The box included two inclusion chocolate bars – Macadamia Nuts + Raspberries + Kaffir Lime & Candied Ginger + Candied Orange Peel + Coriander.  These chocolate bars are like no other chocolates I’ve tried.  They have actual “stuff” on top of them, like dried raspberries & macadamia nuts and candied orange peels.  The dried fruits aren’t all ground up in the chocolate; they are right on top so you can see it!

~Anette’s Chocolates Chili Lime Tequila Tortilla Brittle ($11.95): I’ve never tried anything like this before!  It’s organic tortilla chips, roasted pumpkin seeds, a splash of tequila plus a hint of spice and lime.  They look weird (they really do), but they are yummy!

~Feve Chocolate Covered Candied Orange Peel ($10): Boxwalla does such an amazing job of selecting unique snacks for subscribers.  These are candied orange peels covered in chocolate.  My 8-year-old went crazy for these.  And I don’t blame him.  Delicious.

All totaled I came up with a value of approximately $53 for the October 2016 Boxwalla Food Box.  That’s just slightly over the cost of the box, but I never include shipping in my prices, and I know I wouldn’t be able to find any of these locally.
