Bramble Box provides creative play kits containing dramatic play materials and activities. Educational and fun, Bramble Boxes promote free play. Every box contains all the materials you need and a little inspiration – all you have to add is imagination. Boxes are designed for children age 3 – 8 but could be enjoyed by a variety of ages of children over age 3. Since the activities are open-ended, kids can use them in a way that best suits their play level.
Bramble Box ships via USPS and took just a few days to arrive. If you sign up before midnight on the 4th of the month, they will ship your first crate by the 15th of that month. Otherwise, your first box will ship the following month.
Bramble Box is fun because it’s an open-ended box for children. You don’t have to “finish” the box in one sitting. You can pick it up and play with the contents whenever the mood strikes.
The October 2016 Bramble Box theme was “Little Pumpkin Cafe” and included the following items:
~Make a (Pretend) Pumpkin Pie & Make a (Pretend) Apple Pie: We started with making our pies! We cut out the “dough” and then added our pumpkin and whipped cream. W (my 4-year-old) typically cuts only paper, so this was a neat change of pace. He had some trouble with cutting all the way through, but he did like trying it out. The “Apple Pie” was part craft / part math activity. W is super into counting right now, so he loved “calculating” how many of each color apple needed to be added to our pie.
~Color Diffusing Leaves: Sadly I didn’t get any pictures of us making these leaves. They were easily our favorite activity in the box! We painted our leaves and then sprayed them with water to get that cool watercolor look. We haven’t decided if we are going to make a banner or a wreath or just leave as decorations, but they came out great!
~Play Pretend at the Little Pumpkin Cafe: W didn’t want to sell anyone pie or drinks, but he was interested in drinking out of the included cups ;). When I was in elementary school, I would have totally loved these things to run a little cafe. We used to play “school” and “restaurant” all the time!
~Pumpkin Life Cycle Poster: L (my 8-year-old), W and I all worked on this one together. We discussed the different stage of pumpkins and compared them all to what happened when our pumpkin grew outside. Somehow we had a pumpkin grow in our garden (and eventually in our front yard)!
