The theme of this box was pretty clear right away!
The November 2016 Bramble Box theme was “Thanksgiving” and included the following items:
~The Story of the Pilgrims ($3.99): This book explains Thanksgiving and why we celebrate but doesn’t go into a ton of details. You’ll have to fill in the rest later, but this does explain the basics. And really, at a preschool level, this is just about all I am looking for in a book like this.
~Thanksgiving Place Mat / Play Food: I wasn’t overly fond of cutting out these foods (well mainly just the silverware), but W (my four-year-old) had a great time arranging his plate and “tasting” all of the foods. In reality, he only ate a roll on Thanksgiving, but he sure did like playing with all these.
~How to Make a Turkey: L (my 8-year-old) was really into this project and happily volunteered to make it. He had no issues with the instructions and completed all of the steps on his own. I loved reading everything he was thankful for as well.
~All About Rainsticks: Rainsticks have long been used by people living in dry, desert climates around the world to try and make raindrops fall. Bramble Box included all of the materials needed to make your own rainstick. Both of my boys loved making this and loved trying to make it rain even more. The sound this makes was very soothing.
~All About Dreamcatchers: Dreamcatchers are an authentic Native American tradition. According to Bramble Box, the legend says that if you place this near a child’s bed any bad dreams will be caught in the netting and the catcher will protect the child from bad dreams. We had some trouble with getting our netting set up correctly, but we loved learning about dream catchers.
