GlobeIn Artisan Subscription Box Review - January 2016

The GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring GlobeIn‘s favorite products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by their editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures.

GlobeIn Artisan Gift Box
Cost: $40/month
Ships To: United States (Free). Canada ($12). International ($15).
Coupon Code: New customers can use the coupon code”WELCOME” to $10 off your first month of a 3-month or 6-month subscription to GlobeIn Artisan Box.

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. All opinions are my own, and no compensation was received.

GlobeIn ships via USPS. Boxes ship on the 15th of the month (I received mine early for review purposes). Orders placed after the 15th of the calendar month will ship on the 15th of the following calendar month.  If boxes sell out before the 15th, your subscription will begin the following month.

GlobeIn had some sourcing issues with items in this box.  Not all subscribers were able to select this as their box option for the month, which is disappointing if you were counting on it.  However, they have indicated that it WILL be an option for all subscribers to select as their pick in February and March so if you want to get your hands on this box, you will be able to.

The January 2017 GlobeIn Artisan Box theme was “Love” and included the following items:

~GlobeIn Greeting Card (Retail $3): I love this “Love” card and the message on it.  If you are gifting this box, you’ve got a card to include as well.

~Hand Blown Wine Glasses (Set of Two), Mexico (Retail $30): These glasses were hand blown in Tonala, a city in the Mexican state of Jalisco.  They are gorgeous.  I fear that pictures don’t do them justice. They are substantial, but not awkwardly heavy.  I have to say that they are probably the best GlobeIn box item to date.

~Shibori Napkins (Set of Two), India (Retail $12): These napkins were dyed with the traditional Japanese art form of Shibori.  It’s labor-intensive and involves stitching, binding and folding to create these captivating geometric patterns.

~Soapstone Word Heart, Kenya (Retail $3.50): Soapstone is a soft rock that’s popular for its ability to be molded into various and complex shapes.  Mine has “Love” carved in it, but I believe GlobeIn sent out variations in the color of the heart and the word carved into it.

~Soapstone Dish, Kenya (Retail $10): Variations of this soapstone dish were also sent out, but I love my little elephant!  Like the soapstone heart, this was handmade in Kenya by the Shona people.  The information card suggests using it as a candy, mint or condiment dish, but I think it will be a nice trinket dish for the kitchen.

~Organic Dark Chocolate Caramel Crunch with Sea Salt Chocolate Bar: My box was missing the chocolate bar, which *might* be for the best.  Because I would have eaten that entire thing in one sitting ;). I suspect GlobeIn would replace it if I contacted them, but for the sake of my jeans, I will not be asking for a replacement ;).

~Palm Leaf Heart Basket, Mexico (Retail $6): Every GlobeIn includes the signature palm leaf basket (some months give you the option to choose between the basket and a replacement item).  Colors (and styles) do vary, so it’s not like you are getting the same one every month.  They can be used for anything from storing toiletries in your bathroom to using as a gift box.

I think the January 2017 GlobeIn Artisan Box was my favorite to date.  Everything in here was a hit, and if you didn’t get the chance to get it this month, I highly recommend picking it up in February!

What do you think of GlobeIn? If you are interested in subscribing, you can head over to their site and get signed up. Don’t forget that new customers can use the coupon code “WELCOME” to save $10 off their first month of a 3-month subscription to GlobeIn Artisan Box.
