Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over four years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well-known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.

This review is on the “Regular” May 2017 Birchbox. I didn’t purchase the curated box this month, however, it is still available in their shop for $15 ($10 for subscribers). You could also opt for the curated box in place of your regular Birchbox this month.
My preview popped up on the app super early this month, and I was almost beginning to wonder if it wasn’t a mistake? It wasn’t though because everything the app showed for my box preview was in here.
My May 2017 Birchbox (there are tons of variations in boxes) included the following items:
~CLEAN Reserve Rain Reserve Blend Eau de Parfum (0.05fl.oz) ($1.40): CLEAN Reserve captures that scent from the moment after a “fresh rainfall, combining floral notes with patchouli and bergamot.” It was stronger and muskier than I was anticipating making this a miss for me.
~Living proof.® Perfect hair Day™ (PhD) In-Shower Styler (30mL) ($4.86): This is interesting! It’s an in-shower treatment that is designed to give you texture and definition. I need to remember to rinse lighter next time because I think I rinsed all the benefits of this down the drain. I have naturally straight hair, so I am also going to take their advice and put my hair in a bun to air dry for best results.
~M·A·C Cosmetics Strobe Cream (6mL) ($3.96): This was my sample choice selection this month. I LOVE that Birchbox has added MAC products! The Strobe Cream is moisturizing and gives your skin an incredible, but natural glow. I am hoping it will make my skin look like J. Lo’s, but so far I am not quite there ;).
~The Beauty Crop Fabulous Flocking Lashes ($22): The flamingos on the packaging make me love this, but the mascara itself is just meh. It didn’t give me the length I am after when I wear mascara, but if you just want a little color and something natural this should work.
~Vita Liberata Fabulous Self-Tanning Gradual Lotion (50mL) ($7.50): This is a gradual self-tanning lotion. I’ve used it in the past and have been happy with it. It doesn’t turn my skin orange or leave it streaky; it just gives me a natural looking tan.
All totaled I came up with a value of $39.72 for my May 2017 Birchbox. Overall I liked this box, but it didn’t wow me. The value was great, and it had a good mix of products, however, I wasn’t blown away by it.
