This looked fun!  My 5-year-old agreed, so he decided to help me bake/decorate!

The April 2017 Foodstirs kit was “Darling Daisy Cookie Bouquet.”

Ingredients

The box included all of the dry ingredients for the cookies/frosting. I needed to provide milk, eggs, yogurt, and butter.

Making the Cookies

The instructions were clear and very easy to follow.

After making the dough (a combination of butter, an egg and cookie mix) it needed to be wrapped in plastic and put in the freezer for 20 minutes.

I found the dough to be a little sticky, so I made sure to add extra flour when rolling out my dough / cutting my shapes.

The instructions suggested placing the small flowers on sticks on one cookie sheet, the large flowers on sticks on another cookie sheet, the small flowers on yet another cookie sheet and then the large flowers on yet another cookie sheet.  That seemed like overkill, so I just used two cookie sheets total. It worked out just fine.

My cookies turned out well, and as they were cooling on the wire racks, I started on the frosting.

Decorating the Cookies

Again the instructions were clear and easy to follow.

The frosting consisted of greek yogurt, butter and the packet of Organic Vanilla Frosting Mix.

Once the frosting was mixed, we added in the natural red dye and got mixing.  We were so focused on decorating that I didn’t take any pictures!  I will say that we had some trouble getting the frosting into the piping bags and probably should have put the piping bag in a glass to fill it instead of just trying to stuff the frosting in the plastic.

The Result

We were pretty darn pleased with ourselves and thought these turned out great.  We *should* have punched holes in the flower pot before putting the cookies on the sticks, but it ended up fine.
