Boxwalla boxes are made in India from tree-free handmade paper. The boxes are made out of cotton scraps, using the traditional art of paper-making that involves nine steps and takes several weeks. The handmade paper is then meticulously fashioned into the boxes that the goodies get shipped in.
The June 2017 Boxwalla Food Box “Slowly Summer” themed box included the following items:
~Zenbunni Kathmandu Chai Coco ($20): Kathmandu Chai Coco is a delicious drinking chocolate. Add your favorite heated organic milk, and you’ve got quite a treat. I’m going to try it iced next time!
~Wozz Kitchen Creations Spicy Summer Mango Gourmet Chutney ($10): SO GOOD. I tried it alone, but the possibilities are endless. I think it would be incredible with swordfish. Not sure where that came from, but I can’t get it out of my mind. It will work for tacos, chickens, salads, as a dip, you name it.
~Zenbunni Queen Moon Reishi Gheenache ($20): This “Gheenache” is an “alchemical blend of biodynamic and organic stone-ground chocolate and full moon-made ghee.” It has the consistency of jar of fudge (unheated), but it isn’t as sweet. The card suggests spreading this on bread or eating it by the spoonful, but you could also have it on ice-cream. Because really, what can’t you have on ice-cream? I think it’s an acquired taste because I wasn’t all about it. I wanted it to taste like hot fudge, but it didn’t. I’ll try again though.
~Rickaroon’s Coconut Energy Bar (Chocolate Blonde and Megaroon) ($4): Rickaroon’s Coconut Energy Bars are nutrient-dense slow burning energy bars made from organic, vegan and gluten-free ingredients. I’m normally not a fan of coconut bars, but I really enjoyed the Chocolate Blonde! It has chocolate chips, so I think that won me over ;). The Megaroon has a Chia base, and while filling, the flavor didn’t do as much for me.
All totaled the June 2017 Boxwalla Food Box “Slowly Summer” had a value of $54. That’s not a huge value, but it had so many new-to-me products to try and learn about, which I appreciate.
