GlobeIn has two box themes this month – Al Fresco and Refresh. This review is on “Al Fresco.”
The June 2017 GlobeIn Artisan Box “Al Fresco” themed box included the following items:
~Serape Blanket, Mexico, 60in x 44in (Retail $40): This serape can be used as a blanket or a shawl. It’s handmade out of 100% cotton and is very thick. The serape is made by artisans who are members of Hammock Boutique which is a collective that sources raw weaving materials and delivers them free of charge to the homes of their members. This allows members to provide for their families and also lets them spend quality time together.
~Enamel Plate, India, 12in diameter (Retail $20): This platter is hand-painted by artists in the Noah’s Ark fair trade collective. Noah’s Ark invests profits in social and economic developments of its artisans by providing healthcare and access to clean water and also by facilitating the building of 22 independent artisan workshops. The plates are an enamel coated stainless steel so make sure to keep it out of the microwave.
~Utensil Holder, Mexico, (Retail $10): This is probably one of the most useful woven “baskets” GlobeIn has included in their boxes. It’s designed to hold utensils to keep them clean and organized in your picnic basket!
~Plantain Chips, Colombia (Retail $5): These plantain strips come from Columbia and are made with nothing but real ingredients. They are delicious!
All totaled the June 2017 GlobeIn Artisan Box “Al Fresco” had a value of $75. That’s using GlobeIn pricing, and while it does cover the cost of the box, I would have loved to see an additional item in here to balance out that recent price increase.
