Mine Chest Review - July / August 2017
Mine Chest, the first official Minecraft subscription box, is a bundle of hand-picked, official, Minecraft goodies, delivered right to your doorstep every other month. Exactly what’s included is a closely-guarded secret, but expect an exclusive t-shirt, exclusive items, a premium collectible chest, a unique project, and a selection of official collectibles. It should be noted that Mine Chest has recently joined forces with Loot Crate and now ships bi-monthly instead of monthly. In addition, the price has increased from $36.99 to $39.99/box.

Mine Chest
Cost: $39.99/bi-monthly (Was $36.99/month)
Ships To: United States. International (add $10)
Coupon Code: N/A

Mine Chest ships via FedEx Smart Post. As usual, I am not totally sure when this box was supposed to ship.  I *think* it should have shipped shortly after the ordering deadline, which was July 15th, but it’s not totally clear on the website.  Regardless, this box shipped very late (which is pretty standard for Mine Chest)!

My boys are 5 and 9 and are absolutely obsessed with Minecraft and always get so excited to open up these boxes.  I pretty much have to sneak the box in the house, take the pictures and then box it all up again for them to go crazy with.

The July / August 2017 Mine Chest theme was “DEEP OCEAN” and included the following items:

~Minechest Guardian T-Shirt: L (my 9-year-old) said that this t-shirt has a “guardian and a guy swimming”.  He knows his stuff, so that’s what I am going with ;).  Also, he loves it.  He was wearing a Minecraft shirt today when we received this box and were actually out shopping earlier and looked at MORE Minecraft shirts.  You can never have enough.

~Minecraft Beach Towel ($9.99): Of all the Minecraft things we own, this is our first beach towel!  Yay!  I almost picked one up earlier this summer, but never did.   The towel is 28×58 and features your favorite “Minecraft Mob” – a Creeper, Skeleton, and Zombie.

~Minecraft Squid Sticker: Every Minechest box includes an exclusive sticker.  This month’s box features a giant squid. My 5-year-old will figure out something amazing to do with this.

~Minecraft Fishing Rod Pin:  Every Minechest also features a Mine Chest exclusive pin.  This month’s was a fishing rod, which fits the theme nicely and will be added to my 5-year-old’s Minecraft pin collection (he keeps them all on his backpack now).

~Minecraft Guide to Exploration ($8.73): Wouldn’t you know it, we already have this book! In all fairness though we do have a ton of Minecraft books.  L says it’s fantastic and didn’t even seem upset to get a second copy.  He actually seemed a little excited that W could have his own copy now.

Description from Amazon:
The official Minecraft: Guide to Exploration will help you survive. Learn how to find resources, craft equipment and protect yourself from hostile mobs.

The world of Minecraft is waiting to be explored. But danger lurks around every corner and survival can prove difficult for even the bravest adventurer.

With insider info and tips from the experts at Mojang, this is the definitive guide to exploration for new Minecrafters.

~Minecraft Clown Fish Stamp: Every Mine Chest (so far anyway) has included a Stamp & Ink Pad. I personally wish they’d switch some of these every month things (the sticker, the stamp and the pin), but the kids seem to like it, so….  I will say that this ink pad was completely dry and I had to wet it to get the color to work.

Since there are so many Mine Chest exclusive items it’s hard to do a price breakdown.  This month’s box had six items, which works out to just shy of $7 per item.  My boys just love this box, so even with the late shipping, it’s worth it to us!

Did you get the July / August 2017 Mine Chest?  What’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing, you can get signed up here.  You have until September 15th at 9 pm PST to get signed up for the next box.
