Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for men, women and now kids. With Stitch Fix, you provide your style, size (they also do maternity fixes), and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. You only pay for the items you love and decide to keep. There is a $20 styling fee which is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces. If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. If you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything! Stitch Fix is now offering exchanges for sizing as well. Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix. You have a few days to try everything on, and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid USPS return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in.
My Stitch Fix shipped via FedEx and took just a few days to arrive this month.
This is our first ever time trying Stitch Fix Kids, and I opted to get a box for my 6-year-old son (W). He gets a lot of his older brother’s hand-me-downs, so I figured this would be a great way for him to get some new things of his own.
If you can’t wait to see what’s in your FIX, you can go into your account after your box ships to check what you are getting that month. I always do!
W’s July 2018 Stitch Fix included the following pieces:
~Soverign Code Patrick Zip Windbreaker ($34): I thought this jacket was cute, but it was too small for W. It also seemed a little too young for him (I don’t even know if that’s a thing when you are six, but that’s what I thought). It was well-made and would probably be heavy enough to keep him warm all Fall in Michigan. The price point was a tad high in my opinion, but I have paid more for a Fall coat in the past, so I had I loved this I’m sure I would have paid it again. Verdict: Returned.
~Walnut & 39th Ryder SS Graphic Tee ($12): W saw this and knew he wanted it right away. He’s been all about red lately (it’s also his older brother’s favorite color, so that explains why) and loved the shark on the front. The price point was perfect, and it was just a winner all around. Verdict: Kept.
~Toms Alpargata Slip-On Sneakers ($34): These were too big as well. W actually has a pair of these in his size (hand me downs) and never wears them ;(. I love them though, and if he did wear them, I would get these for him to grow into as well. Verdict: Returned.
~Under Armour Kevin Performance Logo Short ($18): Love these! They are 100% W’s style, and they fit perfect. He will get a ton of use of out these over the summer, and they’ll probably even fit him next summer. Verdict: Kept.
~Joules Marcus Knit Polo ($20): We both thought this was cute and the price point was more than fair in my opinion. I just don’t think it’s a piece W would wear a lot. And the blue and yellow reminded me of UofM, and we’re a Spartan family ;).
~DL1961 Brady Slim Leg Knit Pant ($38): I.love.these! They are “smart denim” so they look like “dress” pants, but they are also comfortable. Well, as comfortable as denim can be for a little one. As much as I wanted W to keep these, he vetoed them. It makes sense though because I know he would never wear them. He prefers pants with an elastic waistband. Verdict: Returned.
~Rumi + Ryder Logan L/S Soft Wash Woven Shirt ($20): OMG how cute is this? W looked adorable, and he knew it. I love the denim cuffs, and price point here was beyond fair. This is going to be his shirt for school pictures in the Fall! Verdict: Kept.
~Tailor Vintage Ezra Madras Short ($20): These are super soft (which W loved), but I don’t think he’d wear them often. We both did like them, but I just know he’d never grab for them. Verdict: Returned.
We loved Stitch Fix Kids! It was such an easy way to shop, and I thought they made great selections for W. They selected pieces that worked within our price range and it made back to school shopping a breeze! I’m already excited for our next one!
