Book of the Month is a monthly book subscription service. Each month their panel of Judges selects a limited number of exceptional books to offer to their members. They announce their New Selections on the first of the month, and members have six days to decide which book (or books) they would like to receive. They ship books to all of their members at the same time, so members can read and participate in their discussion forum as a group.
Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. All opinions are my own, and no compensation was received.
Book of the Month ships via USPS.
The jackets contain a BOTM logo, and the back shows the month the book was selected. I also realized that the cover of the book has the month embossed on it. I selected the following book for April 2020:
~Beach Read by Emily Henry: I really thought this was going to be an actual light, beach read, but it was more than that. It wasn’t necessarily deep, but it also wasn’t super fluffy. I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say that super predictable. Not in a bad way necessarily and I obviously couldn’t predict all the details, but after the first chapter I pretty much could tell how it was ending. It was a quick, enjoyable read and would recommended it. 3.5/5 stars!
Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes bestselling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast.
They’re polar opposites.
In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they’re living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer’s block.
Until, one hazy evening, one thing leads to another and they strike a deal designed to force them out of their creative ruts: Augustus will spend the summer writing something happy, and January will pen the next Great American Novel. She’ll take him on field trips worthy of any rom-com montage, and he’ll take her to interview surviving members of a backwoods death cult (obviously). Everyone will finish a book and no one will fall in love. Really.
