Birchbox is a monthly subscription of beauty samples tailored to your skin, hair, and style. They recently increased the price of their box from $10/month to $15/month (current subscribers were grandfathered in at $13/month or $10/month for annual subscribers) and promise improvements to personalization, new products to choose from, more customization options for subscribers and faster shipping, among other things. April 2019 was the first month of the changes and I was anxious to get my box and see the changes for myself.
Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.
~Kate Somerville Skincare ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment (7.5mL) ($12): ExfoliKate has popped up in various boxes over the years and I always love to receive it. It works quickly to exfoliate dull, dry surface skin cells to reveal smoother, radiant, pore perfected skin. The description online declares it is a holy grail product and they are correct.
~Marcelle Hydractive 24H Day & Night Moisturizing Gel Cream: This is listed on my information card, but was not included in my box. I did not reach out to Birchbox to let them know about the missing item as it just does not seem like a huge deal right now. I do pay for this box myself, but it wasn’t my sample choice item and I am okay with missing this one. I actually think is this only the first or second time in the EIGHT years I have received Birchbox that an item has been missing.
~Number 4 Thermal Styling Spray (1oz) ($4.78): This thermal spray acts as a barrier between hot tools and your hair. It is lightweight and it works.
~Oribe Straight Away Smoothing Blowout Cream (0.5fl.oz) ($4.40): My hair is straight and I don’t have to do anything special when I blow dry it to make it that way, but I do have issues with flyaways. This helps with those and also protects against heat and humidity.
~Type A Brands Visionary Deodorant (0.5oz) ($1.77): I actually tried this in one of my Try It Tuesday posts and really liked it. I don’t love it as much as my beloved Dove spray deodorant, but this is probably the best natural deodorant I have tried. Hopefully we are allowed to travel again soon and I can bring this along on a trip.
~Arrow Nourishing Lip Oil – Color Enhancing Pink (3mL) ($10.71): I love the Arrow lip balm so I was super excited to try this. I think I found another new favorite. It is so nourishing and does not feel the least bit greasy. So good!
All totaled my May 2020 Birchbox had a value of $33 (I didn’t count the missing item in my calculation). I am super happy with this box and will be ordering more lip oil as soon as this runs out!
Did you get Birchbox this month? What you’d get in your box and what’d you think?
