Birchbox is a monthly subscription of beauty samples tailored to your skin, hair, and style. They recently increased the price of their box from $10/month to $15/month (current subscribers were grandfathered in at $13/month or $10/month for annual subscribers) and promise improvements to personalization, new products to choose from, more customization options for subscribers and faster shipping, among other things. April 2019 was the first month of the changes and I was anxious to get my box and see the changes for myself.
Birchbox ships via USPS and, in general, takes about a week to arrive.
This review is on the January 2021 Birchbox. I selected a sample item this month instead of a curated box, so most of the items in here were a surprise.
My January 2021 Birchbox included the following items:
~Dr. Botanicals Pomegranate Superfood Regenerating Sleeping Mask (30mL) ($9.90): This sleeping mask is a hydrating overnight treatment for thirsty dull skin. It absorbed quickly and felt great on my skin, but I didn’t notice too much difference in the morning.
~VERB Ghost Shampoo (25ml) ($1.27) and VERB Ghost Conditioner (25mL) ($1.27): This smells amazing! My hair is pretty basically (straight and not overly thick) and I felt like this worked great. I wouldn’t buy the full-size (I use mainly drugstore shampoos), but I am happy with the sample.
~Anatomicals The Buff Stuff Citrus Body Scrub (50mL) ($1.38): Smells even better than the shampoo / conditioner and left my skin feeling super soft. What’s not to like?
~Wander Beauty Double Date Lip and Cheek (1.o5g) ($11): I much prefer this as a lip color than a cheek shade. It didn’t last long, but gave me a nice pop of color. And it’s easy to apply.
~Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Bloom Eau de Toilette (~$1): Flowerbomb is a fresh floral with notes of notes of patchouli and musk. I am not a big fun of overly floral scents, but love the mix of this one.
~The Box: Have we ever received a reusable Birchbox? In all my years of getting this box (and it’s been like 8.5), I don’t think we ever have! Not sure what I will store in here yet, but I’ll figure it out.
All totaled my January 2021 Birchbox had a value of approximately $26. Not an amazing value by any means, but I loved this box (mainly because of the box itself). So fun!
Did you get Birchbox this month? What you’d get in your box and what’d you think?
