The September 2023 ipsy Glam Bag design has been officially revealed!
However you identify—Latine, Latinx, Latino, Hispanic, or something else entirely—this Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating all the unique cultures within this diverse community by spotlighting the voices and beauty brands inspired by it, starting with our September 2023 Glam Bag design.
“To get inspiration to design a bag for the Hispanic Heritage Month, I was looking at the celebration activities, from concerts to art festivals and parades,” says designer Joanne Wong. “I got inspired by the colorful art, hand-crafted decorations and fashion, and the music that brings people together and makes them want to dance.”
The second you tear open September’s gorgeous ombré envelope and slide out your Glam Bag, you’ll notice the vibrant colors. The bright blue faux leather is printed with shades of pink, red, yellow (some of the most common colors seen in Hispanic and Latinx art), and topped with a multicolored tassel zipper pull inspired by the handmade Mexicanblankets and tassel earrings and charms. “I wanted to design a very playful Glam Bag to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and use the bright colors that represent the Hispanic and Latinx culture,” says Wong.
“The most rewarding part of designing the bag is connecting to the Hispanic and Latinx culture,” continues Wong. “When I showed the Glam Bag design to my Latinx friends, they told me they like the bag design to celebrate their culture and started sharing their beauty stories with me. Most of their beauty routines and tips are passed on from their grandmothers and mothers. I think it is very meaningful, and I really enjoy learning about their cultures.”
