Sephora Favorites 2023 Mini Candle Sampler Set Review

As soon as I saw that the Sephora Favorites Mini Candle Sampler Set was being offered again this year I knew I had to snag it. I have purchased this the last two years (you can see my reviews for 2021 and 2022) and it was so worth it. It features five votive candles to sample and includes a certificate to redeem for the full-size candle you love the most.

Cost: $60
Where to Purchase: Sephora

From Sephora
Find your new favorite candle scent with this candle sampler set. Perfectly giftable, this set comes with five sample-size candles ranging from floral to earthy & woody and warm & spicy. Choose your favorite, and then take the included scent certificate to any US Sephora store* or Sephora.com to redeem for a full size of your favorite featured candle at no extra cost.*

The packaging isn’t as cute this year as in previous years, but it’s still pretty.

All of the candles are listed on the back with the names, sizes and a description of the scent.

The Sephora Favorites Mini Candle Sampler Set includes the following candles:

3oz / 85g Boy Smells Hinoki Fantôme Candle ($13.46): Hinoki Fantôme is a warm & spicy scent.  It has notes of timber and brooding frankincense crash against floral jasmine and unhinged spice, all basking beneath a sexy amber glow.  It is a strong smokey scent and very much a “boy smell”.

2.5 oz/ 70 g Maison Louis Marie No. 4 Bois De Balincourt Candle ($11.04): No. 4 is a sandalwood fragrance with a dominant cedarwood and sandalwood accord supplemented by a spicy cinnamon nutmeg complex and an earthy vetiver note. It is a light, clean scent and so pretty. Note: This was also in the 2021 and 2022 candle samplers.

1.23 oz/ 35 g Maison Margiela Replica By The Fireplace ($14.85): By The Fireplace is another smokey scent. It has notes of orange flower and vanilla perfume layered atop the woody scent of clove oil and chestnut. It’s so luxurious and just a fabulous winter candle. Note: This was also in the 2022 candle sampler.

0.95 oz/ 27 g NEST New York Madagascar Vanilla Candle ($5.63): Madagascar Vanilla has notes of warm vanilla bean and delicate vanilla orchid with a hint of coconut. I am obsessed. It is absolutely perfect!

0.9oz / 25.5g VOLUSPA Gogi & Tarocco Orange Candle  ($1.70): Goji & Tarocco Orange has notes of ripe mango and bittersweet goji berries resting on a bed of tangy blood orange. It’s sweet but not overly so. It feels like more of a summer scent, but I do love it.

Scent Certificate: The sampler also includes a scent certificate to be redeemed at any US Sephora store OR online for a full-size version of one of the candles included in the sampler..  There is no expiration date on the certificate, but they do recommend you use it within twelve months to ensure the product of your choice is available.

The scent certificate redeems for:

8.5 oz/ 241 g Boy Smells Hinoki Fantôme Candle ($38)
8.5 oz/ 241 g Maison Louis Marie No. 4 Bois De Balincourt Candle ($38)
5.8 oz/ 164 g Maison Margiela REPLICA By the Fireplace Candle ($70)
8.1 oz/ 230 g NEST New York Madagascar Vanilla Candle ($48)
18 oz/ 510 g VOLUSPA Gogi & Tarrocco Orange Candle ($34)

All totaled the Sephora Favorites Mini Candle Sampler Set had a value of approximately $47 PLUS the value of the full-size candle of your choosing (which range from $34 to $70). I was originally going to get the REPLICA By the Fireplace Candle (that’s what I got last year), but after smelling them all, I am going with the NEST Madagascar Vanilla Candle. It’s just SO SO good!  That selection will bring the total value to $95.

This is an outstanding deal for $60 no matter which candle you select. I think these would make outstanding holiday gifts and I highly suggest snagging them before they sell out!
